Trapping heat for rooting

I have seven cuttings from Christmas. Originally I had six but a friend gave me a hilo beauty. They're all dipped in rooting powder and callused really good. I have the first six (not hilo beauty) in clear plastic containers of sterile seed starting mix and they're on a heat mat. I've noticed that the floor under the mat is very warm while the soil is only slightly warm. Is there any way to insulate the mat so the heat goes to the plants instead of the ground? Also, what other ways can I keep them warm? I was considering grow lights but I'm worried they'd be too drying
