It's beautiful! Any lights on the second floor that can be changed to improve the lighting below?

Agreed beautiful. my thoughts float to a snall table decor next to stairs. I love the iron and wood stair rails, too. Also huge fan of chandeliers for entryways, but doesn't look that would work for your area.

For me, I would have to paint out all that brown wood. The doors and trim work, that way then you could leave the wall colour if you like it as there would be more of a contrast, although personally I would paint it with a colour picked out from the stair runner. I moved into my house and the family room had the same tones on the wall and wainscoting, I called it the ginger cat room, once the wood was painted white it looked night and day. Good luck!

I am in the same thought pattern as the last two posts, get rid of the brown doors trim & stairs; paint it white! If you want to add some drama, do the handrail on the stairs a dark brown/black.
