Sorry to hear that happened. That must have been disappointing. Maybe the potting mix? It's important not to use anything that says "Weed Free" on the bag.

If the plants germinated but then actually disappeared it wouldn't be anything to do with growing conditions. If that were the case there would be dead and or dying plants visible. If there is no sign of the plants they must have been eaten.

I did find a few dead plants - which is what made me initially think it was the cold. But some of them were just gone - no evidence that there was ever a plant there. Could be more than one thing maybe? I didn't even think about the potting mix. Just a mixture of mushroom compost and vermiculite.

I was so excited.... At any rate, I've re-ordered seeds and will start all over. There's still time... : )

Maybe fried in heat if you kept them covered in warm sun? I always uncover sprouts if it's over 60 degrees.

Connie, yes, I suppose it could be a mix of things. But whether it was heat, cold or potting mix makes no difference to the fact there would be 'bodies' at the scene. Only pests would remove plants without a trace.
