A 24” overhang required re-engineering the entire design for proper support. It can’t hang out in the breeze, and cantilevered with steel is wholly inadequate.

Yes, if we had a 24” overhang we had a 4” square leg on each end of the 9’ island. The fabricator said he would add 2 metal brackets as well. (However now I’m thinking 13” overhang to avoid seam)

Yes. I love the Lincoln. Simple, clean looking but enough pattern to be interesting. No too cool or stark looking. And I considered the 24 inch overhang and agree with mackdolan. Not enough benefit to warrant that effort, and the cantilever takes away from the simplicity of the design.

12 overhang is the most you should do.

Legs just stuck under stone isn’t workable. The entire island would have to be redesigned to create an island table set up. That requires stretcher bars and cross supports. All with a reinforced place to attach to the island. Plus the legs attached to the floors so that they can’t be leveraged out from under it by kid high jinx. A top that big and heavy is a huge killing safety hazard unless appropriately supportive design is created. That has to happen during the design phase. Once it gets this far along, it’s too late.

I do have a very skilled carpenter onsite who can rebuild anything if necessary. Not too late, thank goodness! Either way, I’m going to prefer the seamless look. Thanks to all for your feedback. Much appreciated!

All of that sprayed in home and site built says that he isn’t a cabinet maker and would be out of his depth in designing any of this.

Mackdolan, you are incorrect. These cabinets were built by a carpenter who
only builds cabinets. These cabinets were built offsite, not onsite. In addition, the area you see “sprayed” only appears that way due to the fact that the shaker inserts around the perimeter of my island are being applied onsite. (After being sprayed with furniture grade paint offsite) His work excellent and he is more than capable to do what you described.

House six we do not have any support. With a 12-13” overhang you do not need additional support.

I do not have supports with a 12” overhang. It looks nicer without supports.

What is the recommendation for color on the seam for the Aurea Lincoln? The wholesaler provided my fabrication guy some, however it’s way too yellow.

Looks like the Integra Adhesives Signature Collection, Cameo White 3017 is the recommended color for the Aurea Lincoln. Does everyone feel this matches really good? (ie- no yellow line? I am seeing an obvious yellow line from the sample my fabricator showed me of the adhesive the distributor mailed with the Aurea Lincoln)

I just confirmed with my fabricator that they used the recommended Cameo White on my sample seam. It’s definitely too yellow. Does anyone else have an adhesive they recommend that blends better with the Aurea Lincoln?

So I had paragon installed... definitely looks grey in my kitchen, not that white at all. I did check with my cabinet colour before hand (white) and it seemed to match well but I guess u don’t really know till u see it laid out on top. Looks much darker on perimeter cabinets maybe because there’s no window, so less light. I wanted a white subway backsplash but I think that makes it look even darker now, so back to the drawing board with that I guess. Please tell me that once the kitchen is all done I won’t notice how much darker they look ? having some regret, wishing I’d gone with my second choice (misterio). These are Definitely not the white countertops I had envisioned ? I’ll post a pic to show you the colour. Not even sure a change to a different white cabinet colour would have made a huge difference.. This is a cooler white)

I felt similar when I first had it put on. It’s suppose to be whitest background. My other choice was misterio. This looks gorgeous you won’t even notice after a few weeks. Misterio was much more fake looking this looks like marble.

I know this is an old post, but thought to post here anyway and see if someone has a similar experience. We had Aurea Stone Phidias installed in our kitchen recently. We barely use the countertop, we have not even moved all of our stuff back to the kitchen, but we found scratch (1.5" long) and tiny chips in multiple locations. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement. I understand that quartz is not chip nor scratch proof, but to have these before we really use it is disappointing. Installer said it is manufacturer's defect, and I tried to contact Aurea Stone but really, not sure what to expect. Anybody has similar experience?

Our fabricator/installer had us inspect all slabs before they were cut & installed. That way, if it came from Aurea that way, we could decline shipment. If chips showed up onsite after inspecting, it’s on installer.

House Six, thank you for responding. Our installer inspected the slabs (they were shipped from neighboring town), but the protective plastic was left on to protect them. Even if the plastic was removed, it'd be hard to see these tiny imperfections until they are installed. We saw them because we have pendant lights on and that's when we saw them. The protective plastic was not torn where the scratch is, so it made me think it came that way. Really, even if we inspect the slabs when they arrived, it'd be hard to catch because it may look like part of the veins. Not to mention 3-4 tiny chips. It makes me concerned how these countertops will look like in few years.

I love my countertop and had done so much research before deciding on this one, just very disappointed with all of these issues I am having :(

Hi all, just an update! I got my paragon counters installed a little while ago, and when installed was concerned they were too grey.. but now that everything is in I actually love them! Still wouldn’t mind a little whiter, but overall I think they look great. I’ll attach a pic (before splashbavk and tap was in as I don’t have an updated photo) 🙂

@katekrause I have had Aurea for 5 hrs and am very happy with how they are holding up. We used Aurea in kitchen and 2 baths.

I love my aureastone after a few years it is still perfect. I learned to not be so fussy with it. It was so beautiful, I was overly protective. I am so happy I made this choice. Thank you to the makers of aurea stone.

@Kate Krause There was nothing they could do because they discontinued their products and had no more offices in the US. Did you find any in your area? They are holding up fine so far.

@santosob - Zone9B thats interesting. well i dont know if they have came out with a new line or how long the line has existed existed, but they have Symphony Stone quartz now that my supplier is going to start offering in a week or so. i have never heard or it, but it looks pretty amazing for quartz. Someone mentioned in the above comments a few years ago that it was hand swirled, but Symphony stone is 5d printed on the slab, so i think symphony might be a new/different product line by aurea.

Did anyone install Aurea stone as backsplash behind the range? considering doing so in a low use house and wondering how they hold uo
