Ohhhh Anne! YES YES YES and finally YEEEESSSSS !!!!! Thanks so much for the mid winter lift ! Your plants (and mine????) are so beautiful ! And Tiny Moon Goddess !!! As you know, that darn puppy ATE mine ! He almost didn't live to see his first birthday for that one ! I was sooooo mad !!!!!!!!!! But he hasn't eaten anything since. Whew, sure hope we are done with that phase. And he is turning out to be a good dog.

I just took another look at the pix. Oh so colorful and beautiful !!!! And Emerald Pink just said something to me,,,,oh yes,,,,I hear it,,,,something about "please ask her to bring me to the Violet Show so I can come to your house !!!!!" So I guess the answer is a resounding YES !!!!! hahahahahahaha Rosie

I rather miss snow levels like that. Reminds me of living in TC. Here in SE Mi, where I currently reside, only have about 3-4" on the ground.

Always nice to see some brightly/richly colored flowers this time of year. Has me looking forward to attending the orchid show on MSU's campus later this month.

Hi Paul, I am also in SE Mi. Do you go to the Ann Arbor Violet Show in April?? I went for the first time last year and I had a blast! I went with AnneC. She came down from the top of the state! Imagine that!!!!! We had such a great time! I do like orchids but I love violets more! Rosie

Just want to tack on an updated photo of LE Aisedora as she really opened some beautiful blooms while I was on vacation. Look at her now, compared to that pale first flower I posted above:

And this little cutie, Rob's Penny Ante, was blooming inside the domed tray of baby plants, not even separated from the mother leaves yet:

Lastly, a first bloom - appropriately timed - of the vintage violet Amethyst (my birthstone!)

Love Amethyst. Floriferous, symmetrical, quaint long lasting blossoms. It is a much better plant than Blue Boy - so if you want to have one original... get this one.

Amethyst is everything Irina says it is, but I will have to agree with Mr. Oertel who was in charge of developing these Original 10 at the greenhouses of Armacost & Royston. For his help, he was given the choice to pick and name his favorite and thus we have Blue Boy. Agreed, it can get a bit gangly but the blossoms are delightful and as it is probably the most important hybrid in AV history responsible for the first girl leaves, double blooms, star blooms, geneva types, and either white or pink flowers, we should at least salute it if we don't grow it! Sorry to ramble on, but the Original 10 is somewhat a passion of mine!

Blossoms of the Blue Boy are of a great royal blue.. plant is floppy. But - Terri - you are absolutely correct. Blue Boy was very important for the future.
