Gorgeous! What are your primary food sources for your worms?

Mostly fruit and potato peelings , banana , apple , occasional oatmeal and cornmeal, occasional watermelon rinds. I myself dont accumulate enough so my sister helps me out with her scraps and I pay her back by giving her a bucket of the black gold in the spring.

Love it. I have too much at this point! Can't wait for a few months down the road when they go through a bit more. Slow going at the moment.

I have not been keeping such great track lately...I have four trays on my Worm Factory (the original 3 plus I added one at some point) and I probably swap out a tray roughly once a month. This one probably going a little more than 4 months because I harvested later than I wanted to, owing to other stuff going on.

I started this bin April 2016 with 500 worms, which I don't recommend! Not enough! All last spring and summer I was complaining here about my slow start. Somehow I had it in my head when starting this bin that I didn't produce that many food scraps as a single person household and that I didn't need to use that many worm castings in my tiny garden. Well, I've used all the castings I've produced, with the exception of a couple small buckets shared with my sister and BIL for their (even tinier) garden, and I bought the extra tray so as to have enough room to get all my scraps into the bin as they're produced.

Do you run any Rubbermaid bins or just the WF?

I don't much care for Rubbermaid bins though I've tried them in the past. I also can't do heavy lifting now so they're not my favorite thing to haul around. (I can just about manage a full Worm Factory tray, though with difficulty if it's wet.) I do have a temporary supplemental bin on my patio for the summer, to take garden clippings, but I'm planning to empty that before the winter. It's one of these big 17 gallon tubs, with holes drilled in the bottom and a piece of tarp over the top to keep out the rain. Not the greatest setup for kitchen scraps but it does OK for garden trimmings and stray leaves.
