What is the current wall color in your family room?

Do you think Bruton will look odd if the master bedroom is a brownish-gray and another bedroom is light gray? That’s my hesitation with Bruton, because it looks the most gray out all of them. I don’t want my entire house being gray. I’m not sure what color the family room actually is, because we just moved in, but I’d say it is a very light cream or off-white color (almost white). I was thinking that I would probably just paint the family room a lighter shade of whatever color I picked. The family room is open to the kitchen and I was planning on doing a shiplap wall in that room painted white (not sure what exact shade yet). The foyer also opens into the dining room and I’m currently looking at Wedgewood Gray, Buxton Blue, and Yarmouth Blue for that room (with white under the chair rail).

Personally, I think you can do fifty shades of grey in your house, if you like it. If you don't like it, then you're welcome to mix it up.

When I was a kid, my parents let us each choose the colors that we painted our bedrooms. Today, my entire house is painted in a warm white. It's really up to you, and no, I don't think you have to match wall colors if there is a door break between them. The only place that would be a concern would be where there's no moulding to break up the colors.

I chose number 2, Bruton White, because it is a nice light gray tone but I also like number 3 as well. Number 1 is too dark. Grays are really in right now. I really like the idea of doing blue in your dining room and white for the chair rail. I think Bruton White would be a nice contrast with it. I also don't think Bruton would look odd if the bedrooms are another gray color.

If your not happy with Bruton White I think number 3 is a very nice choice especially if you are going to have a brownish gray/ taupe color in your master

Revere Pewter or Bruton White. I do not like the way the Natural Cream looks in this instance.

These are all very helpful comments...Thank you! I'm also open to other color suggestions that people might have. These are just colors I found that I thought might look nice, but the whole process has been quite overwhelming. I just know I want the color to lighten up the foyer and the upstairs hallway and I'd like it to be a neutral color so I can more easily choose other colors for the adjoining rooms.

Ahhh...such a close vote! I was hoping it would be an obvious decision which to pick!

I like number 3.....number one is too similar to the existing slate blue.....why go thru the mess of painting if its not a change

I love the pure ivory tint of natural cream

We actually went with Benjamin Moore Olympic Mountains. We ended up having someone come to our home and look through tons of paint swatches with us. We’re really happy with it!
