We are looking to fix an issue with some built in drawers in our 1918 Dutch Colonial.

The wife wants them to operate a little easier, and as they stand they're just wood sliding on wood.

As you can see they're right up against the wall, and the drawers/drawer fronts themselves are flush with the face, so there's really no gap for slides to live in, Also note the open space above the steps behind them. Things in these drawers end up getting dusty and musty because they're exposed to this space. Plus I'm not loving the sawdust that's created when they slide on the wood slides:

SO, I'm not well versed in cabinet/drawer design, but I have to believe there's some kind of composite waxy plastic type material that could replace the contact surfaces and prevent the sawdust and ease in opening and closing the drawers, that or slides that mount underneath the drawer instead of on the sides...either way, the mounting needs to be dead on accurate cause there is no clearance around the drawer fronts.

Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
