agreed with feeny, try changing the wall color to give some contrast against the white cabinets first before choosing to paint over the cabinets.

Red and black are strong and unusual choices. Probably not my first thought for a small, nostalgic kitchen.

I'd be thinking less saturated colors: slate blue, sage green, taupe, grey. Something that goes with existing counters (which is marble?) and floor (black and white striped vinyl?). A simple color scheme of slate blue, gray/black and lots of white would look great.

My other suggestions are:
* Remove scalloped trim
* Consider a new backsplash, possibly marble "subway" tiles or something else calm and simple
* Declutter: purge unneeded objects, find more places to store what you must keep, out of sight
* Eliminate overhead rack as it adds a lot of visual clutter relative to the small storage it provides
* Paint chairs a coordinating color
* New tablecloth in new colors
* Remove magnets from fridge

I don't suggest lots of contrast in this kitchen cause it would make the space look smaller and visually crowded. Instead go with a monotonous palette like two light tones of grey, one slightly darker than the other. I also suggest to remove the small cabinet above the window.

Could you post photos of the other three sides of the room? And the flooring?

I can see from the several red accents that you like red. Have you thought about a red tablecloth? A red backsplash, perhaps in stick-on tiles, would give added punch.

Other walls of my kitchens. I am in a appartement so i will need some «cheap» ideas.

Walls are light grey, curtains are dark but translucide grey.

I really like you vintage kitchen including the cabinet and scalloped trim- usually I say take it down but in this case I find it charming. I wouldn't paint your cabinetry though. I would bring color in with decor. De-cluttering would help too- you have couple great walls to do something with to help reduce the clutter.

Are you renting the apartment? It makes a difference in how you spend your money and effort.

hire an architect/designer

You don't need an architect or designer to paint the kitchen of your rental or remove fridge magnets.

If you are renting and I rent property you need to remove everything out. They bring in their own dishes etc. You also need to make sure they get renters insurance.
SINCE YOUR RENTING, I would keep it on the very low end of expenditure. This is Home Depot Behr paint and shades etc.
Walls need to have a trim hung at the top of every wall that will take a hook hanging down so that they can hang pictures from there and no holes in your freshly painted apt.
I would have a handyman come in and fix all the doors to close on the cabinets and change all the knobs to a glass in a color you like. Maybe red. You could respray them white, if they need a fresh coat, but I would not go crazy, renters do not take care of a home unless you make it simple,e for them.

I like the chairs in different colours and I like the walls a pale peach, sounds and looks great.

I would do one wall, above the 30" line and about a foot below the ceiling with chalk board paint and put a frame around it in red.

Yes, you could purchase a chalk board, but this has a different effect.
Look at the mid range lines if you need chairs and odd items.

Find some old planting bowls for the garden you can paint the outside any color you like and plant bamboo. If you have a garden and it is well done, renters can only plant in pots. Otherwise you could have a garden you did not want.

Carpet stores all have remnants they will bind in any color and sell for less.

PS. I would definitely invest in top hats, pot lights they have many names, but they are a hole round cut into ceiling can goes in down comes lights. You probably need six. Also known as down lights.

PS Please paint doors and trim all paper white or same color as a trim color. Doors are just another break and make the room look smaller. or if you can affod, 200. At Home Depot door with glass light, or my last question do you need doors. I have no door to my bedroom bathroom in my bedroom or closet. open concept, however, the wall for bathroom and closet are the same and the openings are to the ceiling arched with a wall of drapes'and they pull back at arches and can close iif I choose. Very romantic. However, this only works in a few situations, but coming and going from a kitchen seems to ,e you could remove the door, more light, a feeling of more room.
