Red Master w/half moon window

Any ideas to make my master bedroom beautiful? I like the red color but want a room that I absolutely LOVE and can retreat to. There is a half moon shape window that brings in light (not fond of) so we moved the bed under the window with plans to move back since the tv is not in good view. I have a Cellini UFO sofa (which I love and would like to incorporate in the bedroom however, it is red and blends into the wall. I do wish to upholster not sure color pattern. I'm considering white bedding and perhaps adding white chair rail or do you think about black & white chair rail with a pattern carpet? help love to hear from you

You might consider a honeycomb blackout shade for the window.
As you say, the red chair disappears into the wall. Could you paint the wall nearest the foot of the bed the same color as the carpet?

You have a spacious master bedroom, but it looks closed-in and dark with the overpowering red walls and dark shades. I would suggest limiting the red to an accent wall. As much as you love the UFO sofa, it seems out of place with your very traditional headboard and case pieces. Something lighter! Black & white bedding could lighten it up a bit, without dampening the drama. This isn't the greatest example (it's too dark, also), but has the glam feeling:

Maybe some neutral, but metallic/shiny fabric for the sofa (or a lot of shiny pillows). I would not do a chair rail (or wainscoting) - with the contrasting ceiling, you'll end up with what looks like a fat red stripe floating above the floor.

I would limit the red to an accent wall behind the bed and paint the others an off white. If you want to keep the walls as they are you could break them up a bit with artwork. Simple black and white prints in black frames with large white mat boards, similar to the photo Jessica Isaacson provided would look nice. Also, all white bedding with some red throw pillows and some new oversized white lampshades. Some fluffy white pillows on the UFO chair would look pretty cool too and break up all that red.

Those windows on either side of your bed are great too. I would remove the black blinds and replace them with off white curtain panels with black trim that you can tie up on either side.

Printed silk curtains to coordinate with the new carpet will break up that large expanse of red.
I know the pic shows fabric panels but I attached for inspiration.
