This looks like a character house. Consider a more traditional color scheme.

I agree with keeping it what it is - traditional. Not sure about the olive green, but I think a lighter shade green, or green with a grey hue will look very nice in the home

a tip for you... check out sherman williams paint. They have these historic paint pallets that are wonderful. My house is about this same age and I have ended up with paint colors almost solely from their selections. I'm cheap and bring them to lowes to copy of course. They have a colonial one and I think a shaker one. Their online tool is also great - you can upload your pic and play with colors. With the dark trim I'd go for something lighter than I usually prefer so that you get a contrast. Go for muted colors instead of happy colors - same color can go both directions. Really - check out SW online for some ideas. remember that orange will blend and whatever the opposite of orange is will probably pop... you can think of your wood work as being in that color family instead of just "brown" to give you an idea. Last suggestion... look for paintings or fabrics or rugs that you like with a color similar to your trim in them. Whatever other colors are there may inspire you!

Thank you all so much! I agree with all of you but definitely needed some input. I really do not want to take away from the beautiful orignal wood floors and trim!
