What is the floor now, peel and stick do not work on everything . Why not check out sheet vinyl flooring in a design you like or check out marmoleum

You need sheet vinyl or porcelain tile laid by an expert flooring installer. Not crapola saran wrap thin self non stick 5 minute garbage.

Originally I wanted to sheet vinyl, but again, having a difficult time finding an installer. So I was reduced to the peel and stick, which I am now realizing is a very cheap and not so permanent solution. Thanks for your answer. Patricia Colwell Consulting the floor is sheet vinyl or linoleum. It looks like it was installed in the 60s and who knows what it was installed over. The best we can tell is that there is no previous flooring underneath. OK...back to the impossible search for someone who will actually install sheet vinyl!!!! :)

Sophie is correct. Find a flooring dealer.

Sheet linoleum and self stick do not have the strength and permanence of solid vinyl or VCT (vinyl composition tile).

Checker board floors are the hardest to keep looking clean - white dirt on the black/ black dirt on the white. Good for the photo - bad for the clean freak.

Rosenhaus Design Group, Inc. thanks so much for your expert input!. My house was built in 1949 and the floor in the kitchen slopes down so I think I can only use sheet vinyl. But if you can suggest something I would love to know about it. I have been trying to find something else without any luck. I am now finally in touch with a floor dealer so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome. Thank you! Oh ...I forgot to mention that I an not interested in tile, I think it's too hard, slippery and echo-y.

Another option is linoleum tiles or linoleum sheet flooring. This is different from sheet vinyl. I have it in a boy's bedroom in my house and really like the look. We installed blue, with a black border. It's a vary practical surface. However, there is no white linoleum that I know of. You could use black + light gray tiles.

what about the linoleum tiles? Home depot has the tiles you glue but you can order them in a variety of colors. I've had them in our garage for 10 years now and they have held up great. I think it was the Armstrong Imperial.

Check out marmoleum. I used it for a checkerboard floor in my kitchen and I've been very happy with it.

Vinyl tile, Marmoleum are excellent products. Not ceramic.
