What variety?

there's nothing wrong with buying store plants, especially if it's too late in the season to start from seed. only reason why i stopped buying them is due to cost, the prices have got a bit outrageous, at nearly $4 per plant..
i do encourage buying heirloom plants vs seeds for some varieties. for example, i cannot find cherokee purple seeds anywhere locally.. but i can buy cherokee purple plants.. so last year i bought a plant, ate the tomatoes and harvest the seeds. it's a two birds, one stone kinda thing ;)

now this year i'm all set and have the seeds to start my own plants.

true, but if you can grab them as soon as they arrive, they usually aren't.

Agreed, I have also heard that the methods used are more for appearance than the plants health. Starters are great though. I will admit I never used it for Tomatoes. I start with seeds or cuttings.

HAAA ha. I know the feeling. I have yellow pear seeds, purple Russian and an over-wintered pink lady ? or pink something that is starting to grow again. Those are some nice choices you made:)

Husky Cherry Red

I'm in 9A SoCal and have had some tomato plants out for several weeks now. Just seems like early Spring to me, although lots of rain. Our last frost date is end of March I think but night temps have been in the 40s.
