Dumb Cane Leaf Yellowing??

So I've had this dumb cane for about a month and it's lowest leaf has been slowly yellowing since. I thought it might have been too much water so I waited for the leaves to droop to water it but it still got yellower. Then I tried keeping it moist but nothing changed. Thank you so much for the help!

From the appearance of the potting medium maybe too dry. Of course oldest leaves will periodically die anyway.

If the outer pot does not drain it would be better to put the plant in another setup where it never sits in a puddle for very long.

It is moist about 1/4 inch down, the top just appears rather dry. The clay pot it's sitting in has a hole at the bottom but I always take the plant out of the clay pot to water it.
