Need HELP with Grout color-Please!!

We are building a new home. Have decided on Praas Sands for the perimeter and island countertop. Will be going with white shaker cabinets and white subway tile. Now I need to decide on the grout color. These are the choices that I have to chose from given to me by the builder. Has anyone used "quartz" color grout. I have looked on Houzz and googled it and I'm not finding any images. I am posting a picture of the kitchen that we are doing. Again white cabinets that will go all the way to the ceiling, with the same wood range hood pictured. The picture of countertop up against the white subway tile is with the "winter gray" grout. Also attaching picture of White cabinets that we are using for perimeter and center island. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Here is the picture of the model kitchen we are going with- but all cabinets to the ceiling with crown molding on top.

The question is, do you want the grout lines to be prominent or not.

Here is a picture of white grout with a similar counter top. I love this look.

Here is a photo with gray grout, which I think makes the backsplash busier.

Search "white subway tile" in the kitchen section of photos to see what appeals more to you.

    Love the gray

@ houssaon. I do really like the look of the white gout with white subway tile- just afraid it may make everything look too white and "cold". Originally was going to paint the island a darker gray color called peppercorn. I'll attach picture so you can see the color. Now I'm starting to second-guess that choice – really like both locks – just so bad at making a final decision!

White grout can have its issues with staining/cleaning. I'd go with a light beige grout to give you some blending with your countertops. What will your floors look like? Don't worry about looking to bland with either color, That's what decorations are for. I like gray cabinets, but think I'd quickly tire of them as they tend to be trendy. Good luck!

@ Shelly. Thank you for sharing your suggestions, Photos, and link to your blog. All were very helpful! Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful!!!

White tile, white grout. With your countertops, you do not want every single solitary tile to stand out and add another pattern. Shelley give a good example.

We have Bellingham and white tiles with white grout.

Thanks Kathi. I love Bellingham- it is very similar to Praa Sands, just does not have the green/blue veining. Do you have an island in your kitchen? If so, did you go with white part on the island or a contrasting color?

White tile and white grout. Simple, classy and it will stand the test of time. Like others have said, don't add another pattern.

Yes, I have and island and it matches. I felt like if it was not going to, it should be a totally different style so it mimics a furniture piece.

White grout will make it more elegant. The darker is more casual I see with the open wood upper shelves. I also love the herringbone pattern that someone posted to bring some design element into it because subway is so common now with the shaker cabinets.

One thing to keep in mind when darker grout colors are used with white tiles; if the tile installation is not perfect then all the uneven widths between the tiles will be highlighted. Ask your builder who will be doing the tile work, and see their past work.

Ok- so I just recently ended up changing my mind- and sticking with my decision. As much as I loved the Praa Sands quartz, something about it was holding me back. I am still going with the white shaker cabinets on the perimeter and the darker gray painted island but I'm going to go with the Torquay quartz on both the perimeter and island countertop.

So now I need to decide what grout to use, now that I have switched to the Torquay. Surprise surprise – I am flip-flopping back-and-forth on this now. :) Go with white grout for the more "uniform look" or the winter gray grout to tie in the slight gray veining from the quartz countertop and the gray island. I have looked at lots of pictures and truthfully like both looks. Have heard from people that keeping the white grout clean can be a pain?? Also, if I do the white grout will it be "two white" with the cabinets and the countertop.

I am attaching a picture I took while at the model home with my white cabinets and the Torquay quartz. They have the white subway tile and gray grout that they use so this is how it would look (The cabinets in the picture are not white though – they have a glaze on them). What do people think? I always get good advice from Houzz? We sign the purchase and sale agreement on Friday so I need to let them know definite decision when we sign.

And here is the island color with the countertop.

This is the style kitchen that we will be doing- but our cabinets will go all the way up to the ceiling instead of the staggered look.

It really is an individual preference. I like the backsplash to not be a thing you notice. I like it to blend into the background and support my countertop.

You have to decide what you like. Do you want another pattern in your kitchen?

@amhers104 I know I’m 3 years late to this post but I’m wondering what you decided on your grout choice? I’m trying to decide whether or not to use Winter Gray grout with white subway on my kitchen renovation... I like the look of contrast so am not considering a white grout... can you post a picture, especially if you went with the grey grout, and confirm if it’s Winter Gray or another shade? My quartz looks similar to yours (white with grey veining)... the cabinets are supposed to be SW Alabaster but they turned out quite a bit warmer than the paint chip/alabaster walls... anyway, if you have pictures of your kitchen I’d be eternally grateful!!!
