Does anyone have a Montauk sofa?

I am looking for a new slipcovered sofa and while the sofas by Montauk look nice (but pricey!), I haven't been able to find any reviews for them. Can anyone comment on how these sofas hold up over time? Any other thoughts on Montauk sofas would be much appreciated! Thanks

They have been around for a long time I have many clients who have had theirs for years and never heard a complaint about the choice

Remember “I’ll have what she’s having” : (Meg Ryan’s famous scene)?

    Scroll through the photos. LOL!

I am purchasing the Jill Montauk sofa and it’s very stressful not being able to actually sit on the sofa and try it out, but I have been working closely with a sales representative in the Chicago Montauk store, and he has assured me that the comfort level is everything the company promises. The way the sofas are made and the warranty, which goes above and beyond what you get from other Luxury brands, I have started to feel comfortable about spending $$$$$ on a sectional. I have been looking for 2 years. I saw the Montauk Jill sofa in the Architectural Digest article on Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’ home. It looked so dang comfortable and casually elegant, like no other sofa design I’ve seen. I fell in love with the design and then the fabric put it over the top. These sofas are each made by hand and take approximately 32 weeks to fabricate. You can customize to the hilt and I have a promise that the sofa will hold its shape and comfort level for many, many years to come.

We just got a Montauk sofa after hemming and hawing for a year because of the price. I did tons of research about other sofas and read everything I could about the owner and the company. The sofa is fabulous, far better than anything else we considered. Ours is the MaryJane, and it's comfortable and elegant and the perfect place for reading the papers and enjoying (white) wine.

The ultimate thing that sold me on the sofa was visiting their NYC showroom. We sat in various models, and they were all lovely. But then we went home and suddenly our adequate-seeming sofa felt like a lumpy, poorly proportioned disaster. Our plan is to never buy another sofa, which is how we are justifying the cost of this one.

Hello Anne Linskey, did you, by chance, happen to sit on The Jill while you were visiting the NYC showroom? Just curious if you can share that experience with me. I was considering the Mary Jane, but I like the informal look the Jill and the generous pillows.

Thank you for any information you can provide. I am still waiting on delivery of my sofa, which will be after the new year. My husband doesn’t have a clue that I’ve gone and done this extravagant purchase. I hope he doesn’t divorce me when the sofa arrives :-/

@Barrie - I'm in the process of ordering the Jill. (It will take time to put all the colors in the room together, so it won't be until early next year.) I would love to hear about your Jill when it arrives (lucky you!!). Which fabric did you select, if you don't mind sharing?

Hello @23_23 , I ordered a custom configuration, which was very extravagant and expensive. I had been circling the RH Cloud sofa for a couple of years and couldn’t wrap my head around the price. I did some deep research on the Cloud sofa, and discovered that most of the furniture produced for RH is not the quality they purported to be. So….doing a lot of research and Pinterest diving, I came upon the Architectural Digest pictorial of Ashton Kutcher/Mila Kunis’ home and my eyes were instantly drawn to the Jill sofa in their living room https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/step-inside-ashton-kutcher-and-mila-kuniss-sustainable-la-farmhouse. I started talking with a sales representative in the Montauk Chicago store and started doing a bunch of pricing exercises. I had to take a huge deep breath when I committed to purchasing this sofa. It is priced above and beyond other luxury brands, and I am praying the sofa is everything it says it can deliver in terms of quality and comfort. There is another house featured in AD https://www.architecturaldigest.com/gallery/step-inside-a-stunning-home-outside-yellowstone-national-park and it features a Jill sofa that looks so beautiful. I couldn’t believe this sofa is going to be living in our living room.

I chose the Epoque Mark Alexander velvet fabric in the color Mole. The color is a deep inky gray-black with a slight green undertone. Our living room has a lot of organic rustic features of granite, wood and black steel. Our home was designed by Scott West and I am attaching a link to our house here https://www.westarchitecture.com/sandy-lake. Our home has been a dream to design. I have enjoyed curating every piece, cabinet pull, lighting fixtures, rugs, stones and cabinetry.

What color and fabric did you choose? I would be happy to give you a full review after we receive the sofa. I ordered ours back in April and it should be delivered early in the new year.

I am attaching the sofa layout and dimensions I went with. I am going to have a small table fabricated out of marble to fit between the chaise portion of the sofa.

When will you get your sofa? Have you had a chance to sit on it? I am excited that the height of the sofa seat is now 19 inches, which means it will be easier to get in and out of. Our current sofa seat is at 15 inches, and it gets harder and harder to get up from.

I can be reached at BarrieDreyer@gmail.com, if you want to continue this conversation offline.

Sending best regards and wishing you and your family a very happy holiday season,
    Barrie Dreyer

I am thinking of flying to the Chicago store or NY store to try out their sofa. I'm leaning towards the Jane or Jill sofa. Has anyone purchased the Jane sofa and have a reveiw on that one? Thank you
