AVOID AJ MADISON

Aj madison wa s recommended to me by someone. I went in to the store, beautiful store.

I sat down with an employee, did not seem eager about his job but i figured thats okay.

He went and gave me good prices and I was happy with them and asked for a quote, I just needed to ask my guy and show him the quote and we were ready to purchase!!!

I was in the store on Wednesday, and wednesday evening I emailed the employee Anthony Schiano, whom I was dealing with at the store; with some requests and questions about our products.

I did not expect an email back wednesday but I did expect one on thursday or at least a phone call. I called on thursday around 3pm and left a voicemail because he wasn't at his desk apparently. I figured he will call me back, Nothing at all, no phone call no email.

I was getting anxious already because the rebate that was offered on the products was only good till the end of the month and it was a few days away. I called again on friday, this time I didnt dial his extension and spoke to the secretary and she said anthony is not in today. FINE, No email , no phone call nothing. SO I called again saturday, believe they were closed. I called SUNDAY, and got through to another man, he said anthony is on the phone with another client. The guy said what was the question you had but then he said actually just wait for anthony, Ill have him call you in a few moments(that was at 12pm)! TWO hours passed, already losing my patience because we need theses appliances asap. Sunday, I called again two hours later at 2pm and I explained the situation to a women who said she's just a secretary and only picks up phone calls and I explained that I had no gotten a call back since Thursday no an email and that I did not want to seem annoying but I needed my items or at least some time of communication between the seller and I. She said she will personally make sure he calls me back and that they close at 6pm, I called again at 4pm and then she put me hold and no one ever answered. I called again today morning, Its MONDAY and I got through to Anthony, DID not apologize or explain what happened between thursday through today (monday). NOT ONLY HORRIBLE customer service ( ACTUALLY NO customer service at ALL) He told me he can not give me those same prices and the prices went up and the quote is only good for 48 HOURS which he did not tell me when I was getting the quote. THE SAD PART IS I did call with in 48 hours I even called with in 24 hours but I could not get a hold of anyone to even place the order! Then he tells me I could have placed the order with someone else if he wasn't there. BUT I COULD NOT EVEN get in contact with a sales representative To even do that. He said he could not accommodate any of the prices and he can send me a new quote with new prices. THEY don't care at all about their clients at all and THIS STORE NEEDS TO BE CLOSED !! After this happened to me, I looked up reviews becauseI thought It was impossible for myself to be the only one with this issue, and I found about 50 other reviews with the same story as mine, even worse, where they took their money and charged extra or had damaged items!

I never usually write reviews or do this kind of stuff, but this place I was absolutely furious with and I need to tell people to stay AWAY!!! seriously do not ever recommend this place. I rather pay 100$ more and know Im going to receive some sort of piece of mind with my products and know for example best buy or sears or lowes are reputable places with customer service departments.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Did you ask to talk to a supervisor/manager? Sometimes that gets everyone's attention.

Did you physically go back to the store at all to speak to anyone during all this? You shouldn't have to, but sometimes that's what it takes - and someone else might have gotten the commission instead of Anthony (and deservedly so since Anthony was unresponsive).

I would talk to a manager there about Anthony - there may have been other complaints about him, but if not, at least get your complaint on record.

Hey, yeah my first encounter was walking into the store

I think a large store like this is focused high volume for customers who have already done their homework, and their focus isn't on spending a lot of time with customers to walk them through their order. We have done a few kitchen renos with AJ Madison and have always had an excellent experience -- in that, I did all my research online, made the purchase online, saved 10% over competitors, and the stuff was delivered in good condition when they said it was. If I needed to physically go into a store and had questions, i probably would go to a locally owned smaller store. All that said, aj Madison was very helpful one time we were doing a reno -- and we wanted to buy on X date to take advantage of a rebate package, but we didn't want to receive shipment for six weeks. I spoke to someone on the phone and they made it happen without any problems. But given their size and internet presence, I'm not that surprised with your experience, anymore than i would expect someone at, say, Costco to return my calls with questions about an item. This just isn't their focus.

    Answering back to h202

I did do my research extensively in other stores and came to aj to purchase.

I just needed to confirm something and place the order. When you're spending that amount of money you want to be sure, regardless of anything they still didn't answer for me to even order or pay over the phone

Unless you follow up by sending the store manager and national HQ copies of this, you're just venting your frustration and nothing will change.

And let them know that you've posted this on Houzz/GardenWeb.

My experience with AJ Madison was fine, but it was all conducted on their website as their closest physical store was way too far for me to travel. It involved a product (my induction range) that was on sale. But reading this - I'll think twice or thrice before using even their web site again.

Have you checked their online prices for the appliances you wanted to order? They may still offer that price.

They gave me a better price in the store that's why I went into the store, however I went to Best Buy and they price matched and I feel very comfortable with spending my money there,

I did report to Better business Bureau and I'm going to look up this hq site

I would have gone back to the store if it were within distance to do so and I had to absolutely have a question answered, before I waited for days on a return call. If your salesman wasn't in on Friday, I guarantee some salesperson would have spoken to you on the floor and finished the sale. Sometimes bad service happens, but thinking a store needs to close over it (THIS STORE NEEDS TO BE CLOSED) is a bit ridiculous. Might get a better response to your BBB complaint if you dial back the hyperbole. Glad you were able to get your appliances from Best Buy. ymmw

I was dealing with the employee closely and he knew my situation and my request based on the appliances so if I was to deal with another sales person I wouldn't be able to explain the whole entire request again it wasn't difficult but just tedious to explain and I tried to deal with another sales person and he told me don't worry Anthony will call you back in a few moments when I said I'd like to speak with you he said don't worry he'll call you back in a few moments so I said OK I'm not going to take with sale from an employee I know how that feels. This was also a question that could be answered over the phone and why would I want to deal with a company that can even pick up a phone call when needed was to answer simple question and it's hard to get in contact with them so why would I even want to buy an expensive appliance nonetheless more than one appliance from them when they can't even pick up a phone call or help me in any matter or anything is wrong with the appliance I can't even get a contact with them the reason I said the store needs to be closed was because I read many other reviews saying they charge them an extra thousand dollars or the pot it came damaged and they were many othe

I read reviews where the appliances were broken and they came damaged and the delivery guy came in and said he was gonna return and he never returned never picked up a phone call in this kind of situation when you're spending so much money you would like great customer service and I can vouch for that. Trust me you don't want to sacrifice with the customer service because that's the most important part

I had an excellent experience with AJ Madison. (This was 3-4 years ago).

I know what it feels like to not have great service. Think about it, if the salesguy is neglectful in the sales process what is he gonna be like during delivery or after the sale?

I hope that your experience is better with Best Buy.

I can't imagine any situation is so complicated to explain to another employee

    Reply to smm

The situation was not difficult, but when i offered to explain or buy from the other sales person, they said No basically and said that Anthony will call you back

Have you ever went to Macy's or Bloomingdales in the shoe department. If ONE employee was already helping you, NO OTHER employee will help you. Because they get commission.

So I was trying to be nice and give him benefit of the doubt and not take his commission away
