I kinda love the orange living room, but you could definitely paint the rest a beige.

Put together some ideabooks and talk about it with him. Could you bring in the color with art instead of paint? What about keeping a bright accent wall and painting the rest neutral (you're going to have to be very careful to get something that goes with the orange)? Is he married to the color, or was it an adventure that he's fine with but not that set on? I'll note that he has dark, heavy furniture, which will make for a dreary room if you go with beige.

Think Creamsicle for the orange paint and a new off white vanilla ice cream color. Buy a package of Creamsicles if you need to demonstrate what a great color combination the two make. Replace the blue kitchen walls with the new vanilla ice cream off white. Then paint the ceiling hallway off white and the walls with his blue, if he insists on having that blue around. It actually is a very good blue with the orange, by the way.

Are there plans for the flooring?
