Yes the leaves are rather small but it offsets at an alarming rate. I had to re-pot mine and I couldn't believe the number of offsets. Now I'm waiting for it to wake up from it's winter slumber but I think I'll keep it growing as an evergreen from this point on. I don't think it appreciated being in the cold basement because the bulb had a bit of rot from being stored a bit more damp and cold than it liked. Oh and it's totally my kind of flower :-)))

Gorgeous!.......I just bought 'Zombie' & 'Rozetta' on Ebay...

Saw something that disturbed me on Ebay. amaryllis bulbs dipped in glitter...don't need water or soil...Unnatural. Not as Mother Nature intended.

Wow living off glitter alone - I guess these are throwaway bulbs. Valentine's Day marketers are certainly creative!

I just don't understand how anyone can buy those horrible wax dipped bulbs and feel good about themselves. It's a living breathing plant!!!! Sometimes i feel like buying them all, peeling off the wax tomb and setting them free!!! What a terrible throw away society we live in today :-((((

I just love your garden!! I have a few of the same things that you do but not nearly as many varieties of flowers!! You say you are in Ma. is this Massachusetts? I am interested in your black squirrels as we only have the grey variety as well as the little red ones which are quite nasty when provoked. I too feed all the critters encluding the Chippies, some years we have a dozen of them or more. You literally can't step out in the yard without seeing one run by. And, of course we always have sunflower seeds available....☺☺

Oh,..I saw my 1st red squirrel this past summer visiting underneath one of my feeders....amazing camo in the leaves...and super sonic fast. no chance of getting a pic. sooo cute.

And thank you Donna. Yes, western Massachusetts. That's just a small sampling of our gardens...the perennial bed runs about 100' between property borders. about 15-20' wide I'd say...Then there's the back garden, and the front beds, along with the driveway bed. and Shade garden which I love, love, love. My Mr. made it for me.

The black squirrels have been here since we moved in in 1999. they've always been here. But now because I supplement their diet there are more...plus we have hazelnut, beech, walnut, oaks, pines that also is a source of food..lots of native shrubs for shelter, a vernal stream, a copse we let go, a rock pile the chippies love. & native berry bushes galore like viburnum, winterberry, etc..

Are you 2 Gals in Ma. too? or CT.........We are all very close to each other.

Hi Debra, Yes, I am in Massachusetts down on the South Shore near Plymouth about 1/2 hr from Cape Cod. Nice to meet you!

How about wild turkeys?? We have a pair we call Romeo and Juliette. When they're here together they stay for about 2 weeks and then one disappears. All last summer and fall we had Juliette, then Romeo appeared and 2 weeks later she took off. Romeo has been with us all winter, growing fat on sunflower seeds.....using a bush with no leaves as an umbrella when it rains, really comical to see....

Turkeys run in groups through our property...they scare me because of their size. Fisher cats, nasty things. Coyotes run in packs here..Foxes, Woodchuck was living under our shed for a few years. Skunks ,Hawks, Owls, My 3 Hummers return every year about the same time.

OMG! Bears. Big Black bear came visiting one early night this past summer. he had to be 800-1000lbs. the cop said..what a mess he made in our yard..the metal feeders were distorted or broken. I had a double iron hook, not a cheap one, but a very strong one...it looked like a pretzel....oh he was scratching on the house right behind where I was sitting, trying to reach 1 of 3 feeders I hang from the soffit. My Mr. went out there with a flashlight to try and scare him away. but he just came back every time..meanwhile I called the cops, they have been searching for this bear for 2 weeks....to relocate him into the Berkshires.. He was having a ball going from one street to the next. I never saw a bear that big in my life...I was worried about the little black horse next door. he is the Fjord's shadow, who is a monster big horse. then there's the mahogany one...But still the bear could have done them in if he wanted to. but all was well. no harm came to them.

I'll take the nasty Fisher cats any day.
