I think I would match the counter tops because those are elements that should work together. Bring home lots of paint swatches and see which colour works best in the different lighting and time of day and so on.

Match the tile counter top - you can always paint the door.

What do you think of painting the tile? Is that just unheard of? I'm really at a loss here. Thanks for your help.

Not the white kitchen you pictured but may give some ideas about cabinet color and backsplash that would work with your counter and update the look.

Be mindful that whatever white you decide on does not make your counter tops look "dirty." I think a bright white would do that based on what my monitor is showing as far a "color."

As mentioned earlier even though your countertops are in great condition I would save until you can replace them at the same time as with everything else. Your countertops are going to continue to date the kitchen. You can get a some nice laminate counter top that will add more interest which will allow you to go to a brighter white for your cabinets if you so desire. Also, easier to do it "all" then worrying about your cabinets being damaged when you go to replace the counters..

Does anyone have any tips/ideas about pour in place concrete countertops? They look gorgeous but my partner isn't sure I am up to the task. All the DIY videos make it look very time consuming but very do-able. Any thoughts?

Concrete definitely isn’t for everyone. Concrete countertops closely resemble slabs of natural stone. While concrete counters can be custom-designed, they do require regular sealing.. One thing you really have to watch out for with concrete is that it’s very prone to cracking.

If you like the look of concrete but find that maybe installing or the maintenance isn't your cup of tea, I believe that the laminates have a concrete look available. You also have to make sure that your cabinets can support the weight of concrete.

Your house looks to be very traditional in layout and style, so I would not go with concrete. Price some laminate at the local big box stores, then go to a local countertop fabricator and get a quote. I gave a friend that advice and she got the counter she wanted, with installation, from the local guy at only slightly more than the big box store wanted for just the laminate. If you like the marble look, some of the marble laminates are breathtaking and much more maintenance-friendly than the real thing. Price quartz too if you like.

Another option that would look good in your house, since you seem to be up for some diy, is wood counters, though it would be different from an all-white look unless you did a whitewash. Google "diy wood kitchen countertops" and you'll find plenty of information.

Totally agree with pbon here about keeping appliances and replacing the tile counters.

My husband and I made our concrete countertops, but he works for a commercial concrete subcontractor. If you're not experienced I wouldn't recommend it. Everything looks easy on TV. :)

But I do really like my concrete countertops. They don't have to look like raw concrete.

Since your counters are not white-white, I would paint the cabinetry to match the pantry door. That will give you a little contrast between the cabinets and counter. Then you will have white-white, cream, and stainless, plus the flooring. You can either paint the walls the counter color or the white-white since you want an all-white kitchen. You can accent the kitchen with gray towels and potholders to go with the stainless or choose a different accent color which goes with the flooring.
