HELP! Need a Solution for Kitchen Remodel

I have attached a couple photos showing a spot that we need to fill. (Some background information is that it used to be a full wall and we have taken down the wall to make it a half wall).Therefore, the previous cabinets (they were floor to ceiling) will no longer work. We are hoping to fill this spot that will support a quartz counter top that will go diagonally across the space to the less deeper wall.

We we were thinking of putting a corner unit as it will fit fine however we won't be able to match the cabinets the same. The cabinets are holder but my husband is sanding them down and re finishing them white.

Any suggestions or solutions of what we could do would be greatly appreciated!

I'd opt for as much counter space as possible. If you don't want open shelves, you could use a standard cabinet, with a more shallow box for cutting boards, etc., or leave the narrow remaining space open, with a ledger attached to the studs, to support the top. Do you have a trash pull-out elsewhere in the kitchen?

If you have leave space below the counter, as Stan suggested, you can use a ledger on the back wall, too.

Are you increasing the other sidewall by the doorway to cabinet depth? If not, is that a standard doorway width? If it is wider than standard you could put a rolling cart there, if not, then you may be able to hack a normal cabinet into that space. You could always put a bookcase there and use it to store cookbooks and your large pot.

If you're painting the existing cabinets white, I'd think that any Shaker door would match OK, in the same color paint. A box (to support the counter) with open shelves for large pots or serving pieces would work, too, as practigal suggested.

I think you can match that door style from one of the RTA cabinet makers. Try Conestoga. Having open shelves is an option but I think they would collect a lot of dirt dust. Especially if you have pets! You need an angled cabinet there I think. Again, try a RTA shop and you can paint it to match the existing,

I'm going to offer a few very low cost ideas if you don't want to do the obvious which is to find a cabinet maker or online cabinet vendor to build a full replacement. Since you are painting here's some ideas that don't need a door/drawer face even if you extend the counter across the space: Open shelves, microwave cart, space for a counter stool/seating, tucked away space for pet food/water or a pet bed where you won't step on it, storage for a trash can if you don't have a pullout. Again you may want something that is more integrated but if utility and cost are first on your agenda this might stimulate some ideas.

i would put in a shelf for cookbooks (but I'm addicted to cookbooks!)

nd instead of putting the counter at an angle, follow the shape of the cabinets like this.
