Evergreens

Hello, from your previous comments, I think the taller hedge is a mix of arborvitaes. What about right in front of them, the shorter hedge? Are those arborvitaes also just shorter or something else? I've heard mixed things about deer eating arborvitaes, what do you think? Thank you.

The hedge in the back is mainly Green Giant Arborvitae, which is pretty deer resistant in our experience. The shorter hedge in front is a Yew hedge, which is very attractive to deer, but does ok here because it is so sheltered. Something we often do with other arborvitae varieties that are more prone to deer damage is to wrap them for the first six feet or so with a fine black plastic mesh. This seems to be just annoying enough to keep deer from destroying them.

Thank you so much. My house is the same color and style and I have the same stone driveway lined in Belgian blocks and yes even window boxes! :) So I was instantly drawn to this house when I saw it. Your landscaping is truly beyond fabulous. Mine is quite bare as it was a new construction so there is so much to do it's exciting and overwhelming all at once. Seeing these pictures gives me hope of what it can become in time. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
