Several years back I asked you a question, whether it was this forum or the hummingbird forum, "why salvia?" Especially for my zone 8 southeast Alabama garden. Your response that they were easy care, tended to be drought tolerant, and unloved by pests prompted me to start planting more. I now have greggii, microphylla, guarantia, madrensis, leucantha, splenden, farinacea, and um others. They have been such a delight! As I have started this year to look at my garden and consider how to cut back on the work as I get older to make the garden more carefree I have been delighted to realize that because of that simple bit of advise perhaps half of my yard is near zero care after the initial spring pruning, and I confess some of that pruning, like with black and blue, is "step on the dead sticks and pick them up". I can't begin to thank you enough for taking the time way back there to answer a clueless question. The hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies thank you too. I have passed on what I've learned, and cuttings and divisions, to friends. So your legacy goes on. The world is blessed to have kind folks like you!
