I wouldn't spend that money on Flor if you are planning to refinish (or replace) the hardwoods. I think I read that. Target has cool rugs. And if you like to flea market, used rugs turn up regularly! Love your orchid! Garden stools have always been a favorite of mine so I like the direction you took. Keep up the good work & have fun!! If you only buy things you love, then they don't have to have only one destination - they can live anywhere in your home that you want them to!

We are going to get the lasting greatness but we are just doing enough to cover a 3 by 5 area which is less than 100 with my 15% off coupon and white in the rug will be ok because we don't use that door....we use the back door for the pups and we come in via the garage door

Donna CheekA chest would give the space more weight. And, it will hide lamp cords. Lower the picture and place a taller lamp(s) on a chest and I think you'll like the difference. The space will look more filled and you probably will no longer feel it is missing something. I am attaching photos just for ideas. Hooker and Harden are two furniture companies that carry a lot of very pretty chests.

Here is what it looks like done! I took floor carpet squares and made it little rug right in front of the garage door but still don't have the big rug yet....but basically this is what it will look like until I find art that I would like they better :)

Looks great and nice height for the mirror! How high did you end up going to the center of the mirror?

The center of the mirror is 57, we liked it at 54 but when we sat in the chair it bumped the mirror and I'm scared it would fall at 54

I still would rather put something else on the garden stool but I haven't found the right thing yet....

Vase could work.... The area just needs some color. If you use a vase, make sure you bring in some nice strong colors!

Nice job! It looks like the orchid pot is a similar finish to the garden stool, so I'd repot it in a white pot for contrast, loose the books, and turn it so that it arcs toward the chair. Looking forward to your post of rug pix!

Yes, Danielle....to tweak just a little I would

-as Pattie said, turn the orchid so that it is arcing toward the chair
-if not ready to be repotted, you could just stick it in a slighty larger pot.
-move the chair out just a little (it looks a little shoved in there)
-move the table to the left just a little

After you try this, you might want to lower the mirror, as the farther away you move the chair, more space will be between the chair and mirror.

I agree with 'cdrdesign' , might be worth a try. yes, for the orchid arch direction, and moving chair and table to the left.

Replace table with a chest type. Remove one lamp. Add a fern instead of orchid.

I will do that when I get home :) I can show you the sample rug as well when im home....I ordered more samples today to make the rug a little larger but its just a cute little rug :)

Ok chair is out orchaid is turned I don't have a white pot yet but...mirror is not moved down yet it's not an easy mirror to move alone it is heavy

Just a little tweak... pull the table closer to the chair and forward from the wall so that it belongs to the chair.

I really think the mirror looked to be a very good height - please get a few more opinions before you decide to lower it.

We aren't moving it Dh says no more holes in that wall he has already had to patch enough so it's gotta be good where it is

I agree with Ann. That is why I said "might" want to move the mirror. I would leave the mirror as is. Chair looks much better moved out a little and with flower turned. Once you get the carpet in, it will all come together!

The litttle "sample" rug is cute. Yes, you may as well use the samples!

Yes, I'm excited to move to the kitchen but kitchen is so hard this was more fun the things we do to the kitchen are permanent so making decisions are much harder

I love it!! Well done! I love the orchid where it is, its a great height with the chair and mirror. I would leave the mirror and forget the art. Nobody will be in your foyer for very long, and you can take a quick look at your appearance before answering the door. The whole vignette fits the space for size and weight.

The lamp is just too small to need a taller one and a bit of colour to it or a more interesting shade

Granite .... stainless steel, painted islands, different color cabinets, mozaic, glass and subway tile, gray walls, area carpets under seating arrangements, window panels not tiebacks, (I remember when the trend for windows was nothing at all), Today it's .... no verticals, no horizontal blinds, no valances, no fluff and fuss etc. etc. etc.

Good Design tastes are 'in the eyes of the beholder' as it is in artwork preferences.

Lb interiors I know right now subway tiles are big but our kitchen has really weird colors....someone didn't think the colors through when planning. We put pendants in but the backsplash is what my problem is lol I'm looking a zillion picture

I'm open to all design styles, however, I do like to mix it up and not be so trendy, if that's at all possible.
