You can't hang this on a slnted ceiling?

In another answer you wrote that you could not hang this on a slanted ceiling and that you do not have any extension rods available.
Doesn't it hang from a hook, meaning it would be able to hand on a slope? And as far as extending the light, couldn't you just use chains?
My husband and I desperately want to purchase this light, so we're trying our hardest to see if we can make it work. We'll be hanging it over our kitchen island.
