I have white blooming spirea that are OLD! They grow in a line at the edge of my property with two large trees in between them. This past year we saw that one of our trees were not growing correctly and we ended up with a diagnosis of emerald ash bore. Sooo... long story short we had to cut it down. in the process it ended with the bush being broken i a lot of places. Because of the age of these spirea I am afraid that they are goners... I am looking for suggestions on ways to help them heal or do ya'll think that they may have too much damage. If so how do I go about replacing them? I also am not so sure that digging them up is a great idea because I have a lot of old tree roots... any ideas?
