I would put some colorful plants in the two pots, paint your door a color that's different than your trim, add a chair and a side table and some flowers in your rock beds. I know that it's not the season for flowers right now (your tree is bare) so maybe you want to wait until things start blooming to photograph and list?

I'd suggest creating a sitting area to the left with 2 chairs and a small table. Be sure to pick something that will stand out against the dark green, maybe white or a lighter wood. Fill those pots with something colorful, yellow or orange would be good. I know you said specifically porch decor, but what about staining the concrete to add some contrast and another option to add to the curb appeal would be to add some shutters either side of the window.

Don't add shutters. They won't be sized correctly with the decorative trim on one side of the double window.

Can you show us a photo of the entire front of the house?

Great ideas. As far as flowers any "hard to kill" suggestions? Ha- apparently I'm terrible at keeping them alive long.

What zone/area are you located in?

Also, just being picky, but are your house numbers crooked? They also seem a bit small and too traditional for the style of the house. Maybe change those out?

And get a larger sconce for the wall.

Honestly, I think your house looks pretty sharp, although now I can never unsee the house number problem. Maybe get a cool modern number plaque to fit the feel of the house.

A small table and chair(s) would be great on the left, but I'm not sure I'd buy something unless it's a really tough market. Better some flower pots that you can replace as you kill them. :)

Haha- yes they are crooked. I was spray painting the pots and got carried away and did the address too. They do look crooked and small, I agree.

I think the only other thing I would suggest would be maybe a planter of some kind with a hollow bottom, or one of those hollow landscape rocks that doesn't look too fake to go over the pipes and whatever else those things are in the front by the walkway. Either that, or if you can, find a color similar to the color of the stones and spray paint the PVC pipes and other things that stick up.

Once you decide on a pop of color for your front door, a coordinating welcome mat will be a nice little touch. Your porch begs for a cute little seating area, as previous posters stated

How about using two small live bushes, like arbor vitae or holly, in the pots on either side of your front door? Something other than flowers which might not be available in your area now or that wouldn't last. That would also free up the choice of color for your front door.

I love all the ideas except painting the door. I just can't think of anything that would look nice except wood and I don't have money for a complete new door.
I'm going to incorporate a seating area, new address (I'll check that etsy site) and of course something in the pots that hopefully will love more then a couple weeks. Succulents would work if you are in zone 9-11. Easy to find light green to silver to red that would look amazing with the house color. I cannot keep potted shrubs going, have had my current succulents for 20 years now. Also cannot kill nutmeg scented geranium, asparagus fern or cymbidium orchids!

I've found that bigger is better for entry mats. One that is wider than the door frame and extends nearly to the first step plus a rug under the chairs would be very attractive.

I think a terra cotta/burnt sienna/pumpkin color door would pop! There is nothing offensive about your door as is...just a thought a way to say "come in, look at me!".

Looks like the gray may be similar to Kendall Charcoal. Your door would look so cool in one of those colors above! the Juneberry. do it! (also, have you tried looking on Craigslist for an actual used wood door? often people want to get rid of old ones and they are perfect for painting)

you could also get a few cans of spray paint (rustoleum) and paint your planters in a bright color. plant some succulents and you're done.

if you did the gray, you could do your door and the pots in the turquoise

Glad you like them. The first is Juneberry and the second is Blackberry. I would get samples of both to see which you like better as they can look much different in person than they do on the visualizer.

We went with behr formal maroon. Would have loved to go brighter actually, but with the roof I decided it might look strange and since it's going on the market didn't want to get too crazy.

It's a good choice. I like it better than a classic red.

Incorporate a seating area. Paint the corbel/quoin accents to match the fascia. Mum's are supposedly indestructible. The door and walkway rails need to be painted opposing colors to detract from the lack of greenery. Spend little, but accomplish much.

The brighter door is great. I wouldn't add any clutter to the front. Just a larger door mat (at least as long as the concrete step), and plant geraniums in your pots that are the color of your door.

I almost advised painting the door. I recently painted one on a recent remodel-Glidden Red Delicious. It is risky and can be misconstrued as it was once a symbol for a "brothel". Mine took 4 coats. It doesn't suit every design, however, yo

rob, did you use a gray primer first? makes it look better and less coats. looks like you need 2 more coats. Glidden is a cheaper paint so the coverage won't be as good as the some of the others.
