Bathroom Layout help aproximately 8 X 6 ft.

This is what the bathroom looks like now.

Which option do you think works best? I plan On doing a glass tub/shower enclosure on both layouts. Right now the layout is terrible as I have to squeeze between the vanity and door to get into the room. We do not use the cupboard space in the bathroom at all as its hard to access. I do not want to move the tub against the back wall due to their being a window on the outside.

I'm leading toward option one but my contractor originally steered us away from that because you would open the door and their would be a wall in front of you. But if half of it is glass would is still fill closed in. I'm also wondering if this option might be easier as most of the plumbing is staying in the same place and we would not need to move the toilet?

Any advice would be appreciated. Or if you have a picture of a door opening into a glass shower/tub I would appreciate it.

Is a pocket door an option?

Yes pocket is possible sliding to right in current location. If the door was moved over where the existing closet is door could slide to the left.

I'm unsure if I would like a pocket door this will be our main bathroom a very high traffic. And am concerned about sturdiness and privacy.

1) you can't just reverse the plumbing on the tub -- you have to have an access panel for the plumbing. so either you're building the wall out 4-6 inches (plumbing below, maybe a few shelves for tp above?) or doing a pony wall + creative plumbing solution in the near end. this constraint may affect your door choices.

2) yes, if you have an open space (either glass or a shower curtain left pulled open), you can make a room feel plenty open even with the door as shown and a half wall in front.

I did a house last year with a very narrow secondary bath, and the vanity wedged into the space where you're showing your door in Option 1, and I did the solution where I left a pony wall, reversed the plumbing (with the bump-out), and it came out pretty decently. Wish I'd had a better option, but this served the whole floor layout best.

So, I vote for option #1 and discuss the plumbing options before you get too committed.

Thanks ACM. Do you have any other pictures of the bump out? Is there an access panel or would you just cut through the sheetrock? Does this bump out have any storage for toilet paper or anything?

I have a similar size bathroom that I will be renovating. Just curious what layout you ended up going with and what you think of it in terms of functionality and use of space? Anything you would have done different or did it turn out exactly like you wanted?
