I have no idea what colors are in your home, but I agree this wall should be your focal wall, and this is not the place for a full height mirror. Relocate that to a bath or bedroom.

OK, now that you have added pics to show the balance of the room, my suggestions are not going to work. The wall where your console is should probably be redecorated, and beefed up, but it's possible the living room itself needs an adjustment. Where is your TV located?

The tv is in family room.
I cannot put a bench or console table against that wall as there isnot enough clearance to the door opening on right. But I love the idea of the first picture. What do you think I should change in the living room. I am open to ideas.

We have a beige-ish wall color that the previous home owner painted. We are going to paint the interiors at one point but not immediately.

My home is 1200 sq feet. It pretty small with small bedrooms and bathroom so I cannot relocate the full length mirror to either. The mirror really helps in getting ready in the morning and with the clearance in front of it, its so practical to check your whole outfit.

Your pics have not supplied a complete explanation of the room, but here is how I would fine tune it.

You can find a table that is not very deep to put on the wall and it could work. I found this one on Wayfair and it is only 12 inches deep. It could help you anchor that wall and provide a nice foundation for whatever you add to the walls.

Heres what I did to see how it would look. I moved the console shelf(need to buy a replacement) on wall and for now and put the mirror where the console used to be. The wall now with console looks ok. Still not a good first impression. I think that console makes sense where it was originally as I'd want access to it as soon as I enter. May be I should just do a picture wall up there.

Also a side note, to do the sketches, adding colors to walls etc, do I need houzz pro? I'd love to play around with it.

Seems you require a long narrow sideboard with doors to hold all the stuff at the entrance. I think that is where a mirror should be positioned along with buffet lamps. Here are some from Wayfair. You need all that stuff at the door behind closed doors.

What about creating a dark wall in charcoal or black and placing the bronze etagere in front? The etagere is not working on the right side of your fireplace. The big wall might be a better fit.

You do want/need a catch-all like your console next to the door. I think the mirror, beautiful as it is, is simply too big for space, it is out of proportion with the rest of your things in the room, even if it is hung horizonally over the consol by the front door. Be open minded and consider that you may find a better space for it elsewhere in your home. Here is a photo I found. Not everyone likes a wall with all of these various signs, ect., but I love it. You could easily incorporate a mirror in with a mix like this, and it doesn't have to be a tiny mirror, either. And of course, you don't have to have this much of a collection on the wall, it can be pared down to your liking. The bench and basket are great ideas for you to consider, too, as they are both attractive as well as funtional and would still fit nicely in the space.

I think that the mirror should go into a bedroom, and this large wall should have a single very striking piece of art, possibly with a vase or a plant on the ground, but no table. Make it something you love to see every time you come home, and that makes a great impression, but don't feel the need to flesh out the wall with tables and so forth, since you have an entry area already. Just a wall you enjoy.

(Second choice would be a nice wallpaper, but you will still need art there, maybe just smaller with flanking sconces.)

I know I'm veering off topic but I think your living room chandelier needs to be centred to that actual space. If you decide to do that by getting an electrician I think you can then add either a set of pot lights in your "foyer" and/or another chandelier there, or do sconces as you were thinking.

Also some sideboards are extremely narrow and don't take up much space. I'll attach a photo of one in a separate comment if I can find it.

Note the black console. I believe a similar one would work in your room.

One of the narrow console can hold shoes, keys, gloves etc as you walk in the door. This is where I would place the mirror.

You said AMAZING, and that means WOW factor, to go with the other bling in your space. You have a crystal chandelier and something crystal near the floor, I'd follow that up with something for this wall.....and keep it simple.

Yes, you are on track with making this wall an impact first impression wall. Before making this decision, I would try some changes to the living room/dining room. I would try the sofa facing the fireplace and the chairs to right and left of fireplace. Move your etagere towards the dining room so it is centered on that wall. The living room rug should not touch your entry runner; move to run parallel in front of the sofa/ or switch with the dining room rug for bigger rug under table. I would then move the mirror with a few black and white framed prints to the wall where console first located and a long narrow console with two tall buffet lamps and art between on your current floor mirror wall, (or if you find another location for your floor mirror in a bedroom place a mirror between console lamps and paint interior of your front door a fun marine blue to provide a nice reflection. )

I love your decorating taste! Your family room is really pretty. And I feel your pain, because a have the same problem with a wall directly across my entry. A console wouldn't work in my space because it would get in the way of the hallway. This was my solution. I'm sure it could be better, but it's what I have so far.

Hey guys picking this up again after a long hiatus. I think I am ready to take on this project now.

So, first here's what the room look like today. I have moved a few pieces around. I am going get the same rug but 8*10 so my chair sit on the rug .

Now here is the bare wall. I am thinking I cannot do wallpaper here because of the big bright blue ikat curtain that I really love. It'd be too much with it. I think that needs to remain as the main print. So I thought of doing a color accent with BM Hale navy and 3 big picture frames with some of my fav pic and may be a thin console with table lamp etc. Here' s a pic that I sketched. I k now this particular color is not close to the dark navy but I was unable to find one at the moment. This console is my second choice and may be I'll try to find something else but I like the curves on it.

Here's a second sketch with a different cosole table. I LOVE this table but its way over my budget. Also this was done a while back so my layout here is different.

I was pretty set on this then another idea popped up while perusing the design websites. One of hte things that I LOVE is our 2 green chairs that is a nice pop of color and I have gotten many complements on it. I will eventually upgrade the chairs to a nicer pair but still green. So, how about instead of dark navy I accent the wall with a dark green(not Teal)? I think it'd work great. Something like Farrow and Ball studio green?

Can you guys suggest some dark green that would work here? Also does the green have to match the current chairs or the future chair I am getting? Also need to think about complementing colors to whatever accent color I choose for the rest of the open living/dining/familyroom(room at the end).
