I have had individual clumps get to be of good size - 24-30" across after several years - but never one that got that big!! I don't really care for it. The leaves are too large, as well as the overall plant.

On of the reasons I favor heucheras is that they are a colorful, compact evergreen presence that you can fit into small spaces. If I needed something that big, I'd probably just go with a dwarf shrub. And I almost always use them in multiples, so Mr. XXL just wouldn't work!

LOL!! Yeah, I don't really care how big a hosta gets. In fact, I love a mass planted hosta bed with a lot of the bigger ones scattered here and there. Different plant - different effect :-)

Because of the slugs and snails that inhabit my world (many and huge!!), I grow all my hostas in containers, so I tend to focus on the medium to small sized ones. And even growing them in containers doesn't eliminate the problem - the dang snails get everywhere!! I also have serious deer issues so the containers are close to the house where I can monitor them and where the dog hangs out. Don't need to add any more offerings to the deer salad bar!!

The villosa species tends to have larger-sized leaves - so maybe they're breeding them off those, and then somehow getting them to grow into really large plants.

Looks like a Begonia. Large leaved, evergreen hardy perennial with solid purple coloring throughout the year could be an entirely new effect.

That looks like photoshop advertising. At this point of development a herc will not. get that large in zones lower than 7 or more likely a zone 8 size of him holding four plants in his hands

I purchased a Southern Comfort yesterday that had leaves as big as this plant and if I put probably ten pots on a tray and had them snap a pic it would look like their ad. I know these plants were grown in perfect environment in a greenhouse to make them beautiful large ready for Spring market. Snow and cold had not touched them for probably two years I bet.

Oh, it is very real!! leaves are 8-10" across and mature plant gets to be about 4' across. And this is only one of immense size bred by the same breeder, Thierry Delabroye. The other jumbo sized heuchera is Magnum, which might even get a bit larger.

The largest Heucheras in my garden are Georgia Peach and Kassandra. Both beauties!

I have multiple Heuchera Americana "Dale's Strain" that have gotten large. I have one that gets a fair amount of sun that's almost 3' wide and almost as tall before you count the seed stalks.

I also have Heuchera 'Brownies' that is pretty large but I haven't had it long enough to know its final mature size. The leaves on it are larger than most other Heuchera, though. I'm guessing it will be a large plant.
