"No one sits on benches " comment is hilarious since mine is used daily ( to sit on when leashing / unleashing my dog, conversing with neighbors passing by, taking off soiled shoes after puttering around the yard, etc). In any event smaller chairs would probably look better on your smaller porch.

Other ideas for seating if you plan to spend time there. If not, then a convenient bench under the window might do, and you can use hanging baskets above the railing, or get plant boxes that hang over the railings. Then boost the landscape with some colorful plants that do well in your area.

Hi Nadine what a cute cottage! Changes to the front are
fairly straight forward and not too expensive. (See my visualization below).

Replace the chain metal fence on the right with the same
fence panels you've already used (rear left). Refinish or repave the path so
it's a warmer color with a bit of interesting texture.

Add a wide tree ring around the tree. Use light weight
aluminum lawn edging like this. It's
helpful because it prevents soil and mulch spilling onto the lawn and stops
grass growing under the tree.

Good idea to plant some low growing flowering plants in
front. Create a flower bed on each side of the path and line the edge with lawn edging like this one. Again, it will cut down on maintenance work
and keep things looking tidy.

Visit your local garden center and ask them for
some ideas for plants, day lilies may be a good choice. You could also plant a small
climbing plant (rose, honeysuckle or clematis) and train it up the support on
the far right.

Finally, on the porch, install an attractive light and add
some wall decoration such as a welcome sign. A small decorative table with a
potted plant would look nice too.
