Two-tone kitchen?

Hi All! We are in the process of closing on a new house and although i love love love this house, I am finding the kitchen to be a tad bit on the dark side, esp in today's world of white kitchens. I am thinking about having the upper cabinets re-painted to some sort of cream or off-white color and leaving the bottom cabinets the same existing brown color. I would keep the double oven cabinets dark as well as the cabinet above the fridge. I'll switch the center island to the off-white/cream color. What do you think? Wondering if anyone could weigh-in! Thanks so much!

Try painting the island first and the back of the shelves a light color first you can always do more later. Also, if possible switch out a few upper doors to glass and paint the back of those light as well. Also,maybe paint walls. Happy new house!

Although I love white kitchens, I think your wood works well with your kitchen and floors. The heavy table and chairs is adding to the dark look. Once you've moved in with your furniture, removed the fake greenery and the too-small drapes, you may like the kitchen as it is.

You cold also change the counter tops (save island) to a light color as well if you have the cash.

yes, that's true. the table is definitely adding to the heaviness. never thought about the curtain being the wrong size, but now cant help but notice it.

and that is a really great idea, adding glass to a few doors on that cabinet wall. i think i will definitely do that! probably the 4 center ones right?

And a very small thing....change the outlet color on the island to blend in with the wood. Overall, nice, spacious kitchen!
