I would appreciate advice regarding a stairway to our basement. I am considering a carpet runner for safety reasons. I would like input on where to start and stop a runner. There are about 13 steps down to a landing and then another couple steps after you turn the corner to a wide hallway. I have wood floors upstairs and on the steps, tile in the basement. I don't really want carpet on the landing area unless it is needed aesthetically.
