That round one doesn't look like a dining room chandelier to me ... it looks like something for an entry way or something. I would pick something more grand for a dining room than those two examples. I agree the shape could be either round or rectangular.

I would definitely go with the rectangular one. It'll provide better lighting for everyone at the table and give a more spacious look.

I'm not an expert at height, but I know that the original chandelier in my home was hung way too high above the table. Moving it down made the lighting better and made sitting at the table feel more intimate. You'll want to consider what types and heights of center pieces you may use on the table and consult some guidelines here at HOUZZ that would give you a better idea how high above the table it should hang. Start noticing the height of lighting above other people's tables. It's much easier to raise the light higher than it is to bring it down lower.

I am going with a more casual/ rustic dining room set....2 parsons chairs, a pew and 2 wood chairs. I want my dining room to not be so formal.
