We are adding a 16' x 20' deck as part of an addition to our house in Colorado. We know we want to go with composite for the deck flooring so it holds up better over time. However, for the railings we've actually had two contractors tell us to use a cedar railing to save money. The justification is that since the cedar is mostly running vertical it won't need to be refinished as often. They also said they will match stain very closely so it all works together. Has anyone gone with this option?
