i like the sun gold, and the sweet 100, until i find another to add to the mix. i consider them my working-in-the-yard reward. they NEVER make it in the house ….

Sun Gold beats all the rest with 3x the production. I don't care for most grape varieties. Otherwise I agree that it is strictly a personal choice.

well i'm almost a year late but my favorite is the black cherry love the flavor maybe a little harder to grow and less prolific than sun gold but great flavor.....

All 3. We always add different ones just to see what's new or different but we always have plant 2 BC, 100, and SG F1. The SG is not for everyone. Wifey doe's not like it at all

Sungold!

I personally enjoy Sweet Orange Cherry, Galapagos Island, and Husky Cherry Red F2-F5. Chocolate Pear is one I like. Sungold is likely more often going to be a *lot* sweeter than those, though, although I've had some very sweet Chocolate Pears and HCR F2s.

I'm curious how Matt's Wild Cherry, Galina's, and Coyote compare to Sungold in sweetness and flavor. I haven't tried them.

Sunsugar is one that people who like Sungold tend to like.

We grew (6) Galina's plants last year along with multiples of Sunchoccola, Husky Cherry Red, Riesentraube, Sunrise Bumblebee, Lucky Tiger, Sungold and Nefertiti. The Galina's were the yellow variety in our mixed cherry baskets. IMO it's a great cherry and very prolific as well but it does not have that "pop" of a Sungold or a Sunsugar. We have customers that demand Sungolds but the splitting is problematic where we're located. I am hesitant to grow it anymore other than for personal consumption because of that.

Shell

It's not as sweet as Sungold, but Big Sungold Select didn't split at all for me, I think. It probably has some market appeal with regard to durability. It had blocky, very large cherries with decent flavor. It wasn't the most prolific for me, but it got a fair number of fruits. If it were earlier and more prolific, I might grow it every year. I'm guessing it would be more prolific from saved seed, though.

I'm trying a red version of it, this year, which is supposed to taste better.

How prolific is Sunrise Bumblebee?

Not terribly prolific. It really is beautiful and flavour is fabulous if you can get past the crunch.
