Just to skip to the chase scene, what they're proposing is an optical sensor with 1-inch resolution that goes somewhere and detects differences in plants (like weeds from grass). That sensor tells a thingy somewhere to spray weeds with an unspecified weed killer that eventually works over several applications. They are looking for funding to continue development of the system. By clicking on the link you are not automatically funding them. You are just getting information about their system. Beyond what I said, there is not much more info to get. They do seem to have a qualified team, although who really knows if their qualifications are real? I could tell you I was a rocket scientist for 27 years, but who would believe that???

I wasn't going to reply to this to avoid giving them the exposure they seek. It's a solution in search of a problem. A $5 pump sprayer does the job efficiently and doesn't cost a fortune to replace when it breaks after 5 years. Who is the target audience anyway, people who take the time to mow their own lawn twice a week but can't take 10 minutes once a month to spot spray the weeds? Doesn't make sense.

I smell a shill

I thought they could use the feedback. It's very vague. And I'm not sure how the lawnmower fits into the weed sprayer, but they created the topic.

A lot of questionable projects on fundraising sites these days.
