I vote for taupe... and I vote for two more panels per window to make it look really full.

Can you get the taupe in the style of the cream? And like so many have said, please raise them to the ceiling. It will make a huge difference.

At this point, I'm completing my short term design of the living room. In a few years, I will start a higher end reno. It may include a complete overhaul of the wall in the picture so that the windows are more symmetrical and centered. I think a custom curtain rod at the top of the wall would be a good option for that time.

taupe, but repaint the walls if you have time. The curtains are too close in colour to your couch. Everything is a bit too taupe-y.
