You can always do a crocheted edging into the sides, like is done on baby blankets. Just google search it and you will find a lot of instructions and info. Fleece lends itself well to such an edge finish.

You could also turn the throw into a poncho type of garment by cutting a neckline for it. You can also cut two armholes into to it and wear it.

Fold the two sides together to make a triangle and cut three slits - one in the very middle and the other two where it's most comfortable for your body to have the armholes?
