My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

2017 March Block Lotto

This lotto is open to all and new quilters are encouraged to participate. You will learn much and have fun doing it. Participate in as many, or as few, lottos as you want, but even if you don't like the current month's block think about doing at least one. The winner will appreciate your efforts!

Here's the drill:
- each month there will be a designated block, you can send 1, 2 or 3 blocks

- Please make the blocks 12.5inches x 12.5inches with no more than 1/4" variation. With your blocks include name, mailing address, forum name and $1 per lotto month (not per block) to cover postage for the winning blocks.

- if possible, either attach your name to the back of each block or write your name in the seam allowance with a fabric pen so the winner knows who made the block (this is not a requirement, just a request)

- all blocks received by the last day of the month will be included in the lotto drawing

- you will have 1, 2 or 3 chances to win, depending on how many blocks you've sent in.

Blocks are to be mailed to Linda. She will arrange the collection and dispersal to the winner. If you need her mailing address, you may request it by sending her a message at linda at schultz-assoc .com

Please use KONA black which is available at many local quilt shops, Joanns, etc., because blacks vary so much, this will give the blocks a more consistent look.

    I might mention a HST tip of my own. I hated them because they never came out square after I ironed them. I would stretch the bias edges a bit and have to always make them bigger and trim them down. Then I took a fine Sharpie and drew the finished size right on my ironing board cover. You'd laugh if you saw all the squares marked on my ironing board. When I iron them, I slowly start at one seamed corner and make sure it lines up with the square as I press. Never had any more trouble and I don't have to trim any more.
