I don't think there are any really close matches to Simply White among Sherwin Williams' whites. They are all a little darker, or a little pinker, or a little greener, or more/less saturated.

Here are a few that seem pretty close:

White Flour, Snowbound, Alabaster, Shell White, Marshmallow, Cotton White, Roman Column, and Arcade White.

Here are some samples painted on in two different areas of Benjamin Moore regal paint in matte in simply white painted over SW emerald matte that was color matched to simply white. Quite a difference.

Yes indeed, I have to pick a SW paint as it will be a replacement. I'm at SW right now looking at whites and it's making me feel color blind! I think I will do with a white with grey undertones. I'm considering Extra White, pure white, snowbound, spare white, ice cube, Reserve white, rhinestone, site white, and rock candy. I may be getting a lot of samples!

I just wanted to say quick that they should be able to match another paint color. I always have the formula tested on my sample and 9 times out of 10 it always needs adjusted. Doesn't matter if they pull the color info of the different company out of their system. I found it's usually a closer match if they actually scan a color vs. doing that and it still always needs adjusted. One place I was at spent over two hours to get it right. The manager told me they were going to recalibrate their system. I even have companies test their own colors on my samples now. More than once I had a BM color mixed in BM paint and it didn't match and needed adjusted. This happened at more than one store. The sample matched the color swatch. The guys there usually will try and tell me how 'close it is' and 'you'll never notice it once up'. A little off is a different color and we don't spend time trying to find the right one for it to be a little off. (Of course I'm nicer to the people than how I'm sounding here about it.)

I'm sorry your color didn't turn out. I'm glad it will be redone and I hope you like your new color.

Could it be the paint brand that's the problem? I'm a huge fan of SW colors and have had really good luck with even Home Depot matching them, but the SW paint...is a whole different story. Nothing but problems.

That stinks the color isn't right. I am going to be painting most of my rooms a white too and the Great room will have doors and windows painted in Tricorn black so I am interested to see what you pick! I almost exclusively use SW paint too and I do know that Extra White is supposed to be the purist of whites with no color cast. I am thinking to white for walls. To me Pure white has a grayish cast and I like it in photos. Good lucK!

If you are looking for a SW white with some grey, you might consider Eider White. Our new house came with all the walls painted this color and I like it.

Those two samples look quite different. However, I don't think either one of them look like Simple White. Simple White is one of two colors I considered for my kitchen cabinets (I ended up choosing Cloud White). I still have the sample cabinet door and it's much whiter and cleaner looking.

There really isn't a good equivalent to BenM's Simply White in Sherwin-Williams. The two closest (and I use the word "closest" loosely) are:

SW 7102 WHITE FLOUR

SW 7005 PURE WHITE

Although I haven't used it, I think I would try Sherwin Williams Alabaster.

That will be my first choice if I use a SW white in my remodel, whereas Simply white will be my first choice if I use a BM paint.

The old Sherwin Williams Martha Stewart line had a very close match to Simply White called Picket Fence. The line has been discontinued for a long time, but SW may still be able to mix the color. I am sitting here with both chips (I have hoarded those old Martha Stewart chips like gold....every color in that line was gorgeous!) and they are virtually identical -- picket fence is maybe a teeny tiny bit grayer but they both have identical creamy undertones. We painted our interior trim Simply White and the exterior of our house in Picket Fence so I can vouch for both colors.

That might be true, but Extra White has a small amount of green in the formula. In areas with bright natural light, the paint reads pale blue to me (although it must actually be pale green.) Note, it's VERY subtle. My husband doesn't detect the difference. To my eye, it's especially noticeable next to a prepainted white trim piece.

Thank you everyone for replying. SW is sending a color specialist out today to assist me in color selection which I am very grateful for. I got four sample yesterday and tested them out. They're a bit wet In the photo and in a semi gloss finish. They dont have sample quarts in matte. From left to right we have ice cube, pure white, rock candy and then extra white. This is going to be tricky to find the right color and I'm super grateful for everyone's input.

The pure white looks almost identical to what's on the wall now, which you said you didn't like (I don't know if that will hold true in other rooms with different light, or if this was one of the problem rooms). Of the four, the pure white is the closest to Simply White--it has the same peachy undertones. The ice cube and rock candy both have greener undertones than simply white, but they are also more grayed out than simply white. Actually, that description also describes extra white, but it is lighter, so it isn't as obvious.

From the fact that you originally selected Simply White, I inferred that you preferred a warmer white. So I'm a bit concerned that 3 of your 4 current samples move in a greener (cooler) direction. But I don't really know what you like, just what I've inferred. so I could be totally off base.

So SW has gone above and beyond and agreed to replace the paint. So I've been trying different SW whites and have picked..... extra white haha! It's their white base color actually! I'm a bit nervous but hopeful it will turn out well! Our painters came tonight to prep and will start painting tomorrow. Very excited to see how it turns out. I'll attach some samples I painted on in day light and at night with overhead lights while trying to decide.

After some cabinetry was installed I think you see the yellow even more. I feel like bm simply white is such a wonderful tone while still being warm but not too warm and the SW color match just came out yelllow/green so I steered in a different direction. SW doesn't have a white color range I prefer. Live and learn!

Looks good. I’m trying to decide on colors of white too. Worry that some of the whites will look way too bright in the sunlight bathing my house. How does extra white feel in the bright sun?
