Built-in look cabinet

My furnished Florida apartment came with this China cabinet. Not my look, plus I need more closed storage and less display space. With bulkhead above, I'm wondering if I could use ready-made cabinets or shelves (Ikea or the like) to achieve a built in look, simpler, lighter and more modern. Any thoughts? Thanks.
