No, he just reconnected the wire. He noticed that the alarm started beeping when he disconnected the wire. We advised the Board that we were going to splice the wire to be able to perform the work and not impact the sprinkler / alarm system. The Board was fine with that resolution.

I had to gut the wiring on a few floors of a high rise office building because it had been remodeled and spliced into so many times it was dangerous. There were even some unauthorized wires spliced into the alarm system. It was a silent alarm part of the system, so I did not realize it went off. The fire department showed up just because they had nothing better to do, even though they said they knew it was probably just me. Of course, everyone else in the rest of the building were trying to figure out if they should be evacuating when they saw all the activity.

I am back....LOL. Now, I need some suggestions on decorating this nice space. I have very high ceilings since the sofits have been removed. I have 4 spaces to be considered: a. facing the vanity, the wall that is to the right..next to the shower door; b. two spaces (very high walls) - 1 directly over the toliet and the other right over the towel rack; c. the wall that is right next to the tall linen closets. The GC suggested I purchase a long mirror for that space to open it up even more. I am attaching some photos (not good quality). Hope this will help.

You can add some art or and above the toilet some open shelves or cabinets

Claire, thank you. I am more inclined to use art because I have a lot of cabinets now with the 8 foot linen cabinets. It has to be the right kind of art that works with the rest of the bathroom. What do you think about a chrome (or polished nickel) framed mirror on the wall over the stool? I am having a problem finding long mirrors (chrome or nickel finish) for the wall. Any suggestions?

Yes.

You will need to be careful of anything on the wall where the cabinet doors open into it. Maybe a nice textured wall hanging would be best. It would protect the wall from bumps and not break!

Thanks Flo. That makes a lot of sense. The mirror is a good idea to further open the room. but the door actually goes all the way to the wall. So, I agree that the mirror would not be smart.
That's why I come to this forum. The GC had a nice idea, but it really will not work.

This bathroom is more contemporary. Would tapestries mix and match with that theme? Also, is it possible to use something like a mix of tapestries and photos throughout the bathroom (i.e., high walls - tall framed tapestries (contemporary); shorter wall (near vanity) - framed photo that blends with the tapestries.

Claire, I figured that's where you were going. And, it makes sense because when I open the linen closet door, it hits the wall (if I am not careful).

Yes, I just grabbed a couple for "concept". there are also some great Asian inspired long tall pieces that could work really beautifully. Some have metallic looks as well. You could use mirrored framing to give the "reflective" look you want on that wall by the vanity. A couple "stacked" there would be nice. There are a group of 4 that I have used and LOVE. I'll post them for your consideration.

The photos don't do these pieces justice. They are gorgeous. The frames are angled antiqued mirrors and the pictures are inside "boxed" looking framing. Each has key spots with Swarovski crystals to sparkle up your room. I could see two of these stacked on that small wall and perhaps the other two strategically placed would be a nice combination.

These are on sale now too! And that is a fantastic price. I am tempted to buy a set myself!! I used them in a master bedroom last year for a couple and they love them and were amazed at how beautiful they were since this photo is not representative. Not trying to sell you on them, but I would think about it. Even if you only used two in your bathroom, you might have places elsewhere for the others.

Are you sure you want the chrome nickel.... I think you could use something to warm the wall a little bit like a soft bronze or maybe a pewter frame to pick up the darker vein in the Calcutta

It seems metal art is preferable to framed art in the bathroom because of the tendency toward accumulating moisture. So, I am looking more for using metal wall art. Will add a couple I am considering for over the towel bar (that is adjacent to the toilet).

Thanks for the feedback Claire and Flo. My research indicated that metal is the better medium to use in a bathroom because it can be wiped and is resistant to moisture (unlike canvas, prints, etc). I will be the sole user of the bathroom and am looking at 3 spaces. I like the heels for the space next to the vanity. I like the Eiffel Tower for the space over the toilet. Still not sure about the space over the towel bar (adjacent to the toilet)

Yes, OK, love the high heel and I would do box mirrored frame for over the towel bar space probably a stack of two. btw, I ordered the pictures. I have no need but I am someone who has learned, when you love something, if you can get it while the iron is hot, because tomorrow, it can be gone!

Flo, I really like the pictures you shared. I am a little reluctant to put anything that might collect moisture in the bathroom. That's why I didn't purchase them.

So, here's the finished product. The walls are not really pinkish. I think the lighting and my iPhone create that illusion. Up close, very nice.

I think Claire suggested this for me. I might purchase this for over the toilet. My Son told me to break up the paintings with wall sculptures or metal art. (instead of the Eiffel Tower.

the light is probably refracting some of the color from the painting onto the walls but it still looks good
