well-for a budget minded project I think you need to work on the fridge replacement and finishing that wall since the pantry is gone. I see the need for flooring improvement as mentioned, counter/sink and faucet replacement/backsplash and lighting . What do you need/want from storage and can the existing cabinets stay or what other options do you have? If you want a hood instead of microwave I'd say go ahead and price out the product and the work along with lighting upgrade.....that is your bigger infrastructure task and may as well know the price tag. Cabinet replacement may not be needed but again could be an option-it's all budget.Charming space..I guess I would have left the pantry till I knew more. Start a line item list of details and prioritize to help you make decisions and wait before the "doing".
