I finally found the cone, but it's sold out in the oil rubbed bronze. I'll see if they have it in store.

I like bottom fixture in Beth H.'s last post b/c of the wavy glass. To me, it adds interest over plain colorless glass globes, irrespective of shapes. Re Edison bulbs in bathroom, I got LED Edisons, but I've forgotten Kelvin rating. No complaints about color being wrong for makeup.

So turned out hubby and I only agreed on 2 the cone (thanks Beth)

Just need a tiny bit more help. the cones fixture is 3" wider than the widest part of the mirror the other is 7" shorter...not sure which is better ? Thanks for so much help, I feel like with your help we are creating a wonderful space!!

3" is fine. that's only 1 1/2" on each side. as long as it's not wider than vanity it's good.

I like the cone better because of the clear glass and the overall shape. the 2nd one just seems 'heavy' looking to me. maybe too boxy.

did they have the cone in black? if not, you can spray it when you get. I've sprayed vanity lights in the past and they come out great.

Re Edison bulbs in bathroom, I couldn't find my rcpt so I stopped by lighting shop where I bought mine. The traditional Edison bulb is low wattage, too low for makeup, & has an amber-colored coating on globe to give warm lighting. Some LED Edison bulbs also have amber coating. The ones I bought are by Satco, 2700 K & clear globes.

i have those as well. and they're still too yellow. I went up into the 3000 range.

Yea, he showed me other LED Edisons & they were lower at 2400 K.

why do you think it's too big? I think the mirror is too small now.

is the light centered directly over the middle of the sink/vanity?

Well that's why I think it's too big..,I was really happy with the mirror before the lights.

ok. i think the lights are fine. they're the right size for the vanity. but from the picture angle they look off center.

No they installed the light slightly off center...super annoying!

There are construction materials everywhere so it's hard to get a good angle and now there's no light so this is the best I can do for now

What size/shape mirror do I need? Or should I change the lights? So sad to not be done!!

hmmm. I keep staring at it trying to think of something. Anything with any type of bulk is going to look 'heavy' over that mirror. I like the mirror, but I'm thinking you will need an insignificant light to go with it. anything you choose w/heavy base and glass shades, will be overpowering above it. and these glass shades are as simple as you can get! In fact, this entire fixture is pretty simple. imagine if you got one of those more ornate ones!

do you have a plain mirror? I just want to see what it looks like under that light.

perhaps a 2 light, smaller shade, would work? I'm thinking pendant lights hanging on either side would work too.

I wish the lights were on the sides, but I think I'm at the point where I need to make this configuration work.

aren't those glass shades longer on the kichler? if anything, do a little shorter.

To me, it doesn't look too big, it looks off-center in original pic. I know JB can't be inexpensively moved, but can fixture be moved 1-1/2 to 2" to left?

Bruce I think they put the electrical box 18" from the wall because we have an 36" vanity, but they didn't account for the 1/2 " lip of the countertop on either end. I think it would be a big job to move it now and for such a small amount I'm trying to be forgiving if the difference. Maybe the difference in a 2 light will be less noticeable

Pupu4u is there any way you are open to a different mirror rather than a different light? I think the current mirror shape will make it very hard to disguise the off center light placement. A square or rectangular mirror would be more forgiving. I also think Beth H's last two light fixtures (the ones that are bars with lights on the ends) would help a lot. I'm sorry this happened - you've worked so hard to get to this point!

You should be able to adjust the light a little, or just buy an adjustable one.

LWF: I like the mirror so much, but I am open to switching it if that's what has to happen.

Artisan: thanks for the idea, I checked ours, it doesn't adjust, but I will keep that in mind when looking at options.

I don't think the light looks too big...just a tad off center. Don't be discouraged. It looks good:)

Thanks kjoy...you might be right, it might be more the centering than the size, but either way I'm not 100% happy. I'll either get a rectangular mirror or switch the light. I think two lights like Beth suggested might really help because the center won't be so defined. Lowes has this blank slate of a fixture and we can add decorative shades...thoughts??

Hmmm - it could be ok. I think it all depends on the shade. That base has the potential to look frumpy and dated when combined with the wrong shades. Your bathroom is so not frumpy !! Honestly I just feel like even though you could make it work, that fixture won't be your best option. I know whenever I'm at the point in a project where you are, I find myself in danger of just finding something that will work, even if I don't love it, because I'm just over it and want to be done. Then I buy it and a month later I find something I truly love and I feel so frustrated. So my advice is, if you love this fixture, go for it. If not, resist the temptation and keep looking. You won't regret waiting for something you love.

Just saw you posted a shade while I was writing. Honestly I think the tulip shape is kind of overdone and dated. The mosaic does make it a little less expected, but my vote would be keep looking. Just my opinion.

pupu,,,no no no! please no. i'm having 80's flashbacks.

nothing w/a big base, nothing w/an opaque shade. all of that competes w/the heavy frame mirror. the current one isn't bad. really. it's being off center that is throwing everyone. we just moved our own sconce 2 inches and patched the hole. not a big deal.

besides, it's their fault for installing it incorrectly. any idiot knows that the countertop gives an extra inch. call them back out to fix it.

They are here, so it's not a big deal but they have SO much to do and I have construction fatigue.

oh i know all about construction fatigue. they are still doing tile work. this is the 3rd week. and just found out that the valve cover won't fit flush because the plumbing needs to be pushed back 1/4". this is my beautiful new shower wall

The current one is 11"...9 would probably be better, but I'm kind of turned off to the cone shape now. It looks great in your bathroom (wall is AMAZING btw) but I think you need a lot of space, it's just too much for my little powder room.

Your lights aren't too big. They are sized right for the vanity. The mirror is too small, which is why it looks slightly off. But since this is a powder room, it's not a big deal. Put in the bulbs, live with it awhile, and down the road you can change the mirror if you want to.

I like the Rondelle LED 2-light. It's got character w/o being big or gaudy. The globes look like old glass insulators used on power & telegraph lines.

I was thinking about the bottom one with two light, but my husband hated it. The globes are interesting. I think I'm going to use the one I found today. It's pretty inexpensive and it will give me time to take a break, clear my mind and find something I love.

I'm thinking the Rondelle will give off some incredible light. W/ all those curves I think it'll be a lot like light through faceted or beveled glass.

We ended up asking them to adjust the light so it is now centered. I felt so bad about asking for such a small thing, but they didn't mind at all and in the long run, we will be much happier knowing the light is perfect!

Really glad you did that. There were a few times in the remodel I've got going on where they made a mistake or a poor decision and I HATED asking them to fix it because they were doing such a good job overall, but once they fixed it it was SO much better. Made me realize that not saying something would have created something that always would have bothered me, and that it was better to just say something. Looking forward to pictures of your bathroom!
