Plastic veggies. Deer=10' fence. Or a dog that chases them off.

Save your sanity, energy and money for efforts much more likely to pay off. Like the lottery. :-)

You may have some mild success with the various deterrents, but it's far from fool proof. I've come to believe they eat some things they actually hate, just out of spite. This, from the voice of experience.

Why beat your head against the wall? At the time you would be harvesting, fresh produce is plentiful and economical at grocery stores and farmers' markets. If you just can't do without some sort of kitchen garden, you might try a selective herb garden, which works pretty well for me. Garlic, onions, chives, rosemary, tarragon, dill, mint, the heavily aromatic or spicier varieties of basil and oregano,...deer damage to these is more sporadic and less heartbreaking/infuriating.

Define deer proof. Deer around where I live eat just about anything to include those so called 'deer proof' flowers. If they're hungry, they will eat it. Love the response by Sophie "plastic veggies", I literally laughed out loud. You could try coyote urine but you will have to continue to spray the area you don't want them in. Depending upon your weather I believe the urine smell would last a few days before you have to spray again.
Either a 10' fence or a 24 hr watch dog would be my best guess other than playing with some animals urine.

Buy a couple of outdoor dog runs. Link them together. And then close in the top with chain link too. That's the only deer proof garden.
