    WORTHWHILE

Hey Beth - love the Ws, especially WANGUAFONG and WONDERSTRIPE. Just planted a Winchester Cathedral rose standard, and got a tiny Wise Portia band from High Country the other day, so I'll include those Ws next year.

Here are the ones I had in 2016:

Watercolors Home Run - small fragrant landscaping type rose. Mine was planted near a tree and didn't get as much sun as it would have liked. Colors can fade or vary depending on sun exposure. This photo shows WHR with its strongest colors, most of the time the colors were much paler.

Wild Blue Yonder lived in a pot last year and was very unhappy, hardly bloomed. The rose was planted into the ground last fall and was much happier. Looking forward to seeing this color plus enjoying the fragrance this spring.

WS 2000 got moved last year from full sun to part sun/part shade. This rose has never bloomed that well for me, but when it does bloom, it's quite beautiful and fragrant. I noticed that DA has already moved this rose to the supplemental list so it probably hasn't done as well as expected. I think it's a keeper for me.

World War II Memorial Rose was also moved and nearly died because I didn't water it enough after the move. It bounced back fortunately and I love its fairly large blooms, subtle coloring, and fragrance. It lasts quite long as a cut flower.

    That's it for me!

    Beautiful pics Ann!

Oh I think I slept in a weird position Saturday night and pulled my lower back out. I've had back pain for many yrs, but it's usually tolerable. I often have lower back pain when I get up in the morning probably due to sleeping on my back. But once I'm up and about and get a warm shower it goes away. Well, I also do 200-250 sit-ups on my old Ab-lounger every morning, and did 250 Sunday morning thinking it might make it feel better. HUGE mistake!! OMG the pain was unbearable within an hour or so. Ruined my weekend. It's still hurting even today, but not as bad. I hate this getting old crap...

    I've got 1 "W".

Whirlaway. Miniflora. For me it's been a great rose. I've been growing this white beauty for quite a few years. I didn't get any decent pictures of it this past year (my 1st yr of posting pictures) but I'll sure get some this year. Here is what I have.

Not only is it a great garden rose, it is a fantastic cut flower and exhibition rose.

For love of roses was asked what their favorite mini flora is and Whirlaway was their top pick. I can see why.
