testing a new shower drain

We're having a new bathroom installed on the second floor. The contractor assures me the drain (now installed, passed inspection in Atlanta; pre shower pan and tiling). will be adequate for our 2.5 gpm shower (rain head and wall head, but one diverter).

What's a reasonable test, after it's installed?

Get naked and soapy.

No problem with capacity, but you should fill the shower pan with a few inches of water after the drain and waterproofing has been installed, but before tiling, to make sure there are no leaks.

I would just suggest taking it easy and take a regular shower to test it out?
