well it seems Gas in taking the lead

Let me start by saying nothing beats a roaring bonfire. However, gas is your best option for the home. It's easy to start, and more importantly easy to put out. It's cleaner, and won't spread ash around your yard, and you won't have all that smoke blowing in your face while you're sitting around it trying to enjoy a quiet evening.

Wood. Gives more of a camping feeling, smoke in your face and all. Plus, you can't beat the smell.

Have had both and while wood is fun...can't stand the smell all over my clothes and in my throat after. Also, I often want to just enjoy it for an hour or so. Building a wood fire and letting it die out is a much longer proposition.

Gas would seem to be less messy.

Wood taking the lead now, does that mean people like the whole experience and smell of burning logs? if anyone has experience with both can you give us more input?
