Closet Conundrum

We recently purchased a cape cod and are seeking ideas for an issue with the master bedroom closet. The master is a very nice size however the closet is a small half closet because of the angle of the roof. We are looking for a solution to accommodate all of our hanging needs within the room.

I wanted to get thoughts on turning the window nook into a walk in closet by framing in French doors over the space opening. Is it worth sacrificing the unique layout of the room to have an actual master closet? Welcome thoughts and suggestions!

What are the dimensions of the window nook? It doesn't look all the wide, so what storage will you actually have? You don't want to hang your clothes in front of the window!

I'm not sure where you live, of course, and perhaps you have central air, but I like a bedroom with cross ventilation so I would hate to lose that window in the nook. Is there room to put your bed on the interior wall between the two doors? If so, could you create a wall of closets along the window-less outside wall? I am imagining built-ins that might include drawers as well as hanging space.

Would you consider building a closet or buy an armoire 72" x 22" and place it between the two door then remove completely your current closet?

This picture probably gives a more accurate feel for the room - the "nook" has a wall that is about 5 feet in length to the left of the chair. Unfortunately all the vents for the room are in the interior wall so I hesitate to place the bed there (though not placing it there really limits the closet solution options I fear)...

Trying to upload the photo again - sorry, new to Houzz.

That nook appears too small to be a useful closet. As kmkh noted, you don't want to hang clothes in front of the window. I know you mentioned having the clothes in the master, but could you repurpose bedroom 2 as a closet in some way?

On the windowless outside wall, center the bed and make closets on either side of the bed - so the head of the bed is in a nook. With closets or armoires on either side of the bed - should add up to adequate storage. Use the dormer window for a comfortable chair and a small bookcase. You could build little cubbies into the bedside armoire/closets for nightstand type storage.

If you don't like the bed in the created nook swap bed and big dresser - and have the whole windowless wall for storage.

If you're like me, you like closets and storage! I'd rather have both then a lot of space in my room, after all, how much time do I spend in my bedroom? I saw a possibility; if you move the bathroom and bedroom doors and moved the bathroom sink, you could get some real storage space by adding two closets and I loved the idea of the built in too. I would also add a large window seat for storage, or if space is an issue in the whole house, it would make a great built in desk area. Since it's the top floor, I would think moving the sink wouldn't be too expensive, but it sure would give you a lot of space. If you did the sink with a small, say 4" high linen closet next to it, you 'd have more storage. I think there would be room there. If you do consider moving the wall going into the master, have someone who knows what their doing look at it and see if it's a supporting wall before you do anything... Thanks for the challenge!
